  1. I think it is a bad idea for several reasons. A cargo tray and your cooler will be over 100 pounds empty. Adding a bunch of food will bring it way higher, that is a huge cooler. The factory bike rack is rated at 150 pounds cargo weight, I think. The rear of an Ollie is dusty, wet and mucky, not a place for your expensive compressor to be operating while towing in inclement weather or on dirt roads. The up and down motion will be severe, your food will be damaged and rearranged, eggs broken. The theft risk is incredibly high! Sun will beat on it and make it work extra hard. You can put an insulating blanket over it, that helps with heat gain but they are pricy. An ARB one is $400. 1Up makes a very nice tray, but it is about 50 pounds. Their “add on” tray for their bike racks is too small for your cooler. https://www.1up-usa.com/product/48in-hitch-mounted-cargo-carrier/ Inside your truck cab is the very best place, is there a reason you can’t strap it down there? It would be secure, cool, dry and clean. Plug it into your round power socket. Here are pics of a birch dog platform I built for my 2006 Ram 3500. Two 40 pound doodles up top, lockable gear storage under the right side, cooler area on the left. A soft “pantry” cooler on top of that with soft stuff. In direct sun I would put a sun shield over that window . John Davies Spokane WA

  2. No. I have installed it in other RVs that we've owned but bulked on installing it in the Ollie 2 because of limited space. I installed the Victron MPPT and the Victron shunt in it, but stopped at going further because I'm getting too old to stand on my head. Charlie

  3. As Oliver's tire purchasing practices seem to be in flux, I would wait until you actually take delivery of your trailer before purchasing tire covers. Those tires won't be exposed to much UV between the time you get back home to order tire covers and when the correct size tire covers arrive. I wouldn't risk ordering the wrong size just for those few days of exposure.

  4. I had a somewhat similar problem with the bypass valve. Turned out to be degradation of the seal inside the valve. Seems that some of the winterizing or disinfecting solutions can attack the seal material in the valve It’s an easy replacement Link to the old thread discussion below.

  5. Agree with JD on not carrying that on back of trailer, for all the reasons he lays out. If you don’t want it inside the truck cab, annother option is to sell the Truma C73 and buy a smaller one that will fit. I have a 2020 F250 with a Diamondback cover. I carry a Dometic CFX 50 cooler in the bed, it fits easily under the cover. I have a Dometic PB40 lithium battery plugged into a DC power outlet that is wired to the truck battery. It gives me about a day of fridge power when truck is parked, but does not draw on the TV battery when engine isn’t running. I also have an DC input so I can connect it to a portable solar panel, or to the Zamp side port of the trailer if desired. I usually don’t need it, as we find ourself running errands or exploring, so the fridge battery re-charges as we drive The way we use our portable fridge is as a-freezer only, as our Norcold freezer is small. Usually that small freezer has ice trays and maybe some ice cream in it. We find the other Norcold food compartment large enough for the 2 of us, re-supplying on the road as needed.

  6. You have a Ford, there are solutions out there that don’t require carpentry skills. BTW Baltic Birch 15 mm plywood is now $6 per sq ft! https://www.truckoffice.com/products/cargocrew/ John Davies Spokane WA

  7. Using a Swiffer may help remove some of the dust. These blinds are pretty fragile so I would not want to hose them down. You may want to check with the MFG. GJ

  9. Heard back from Josh, 225/75/R16 will be the tires on the trailer, but like you said Rivernerd, best to wait just in case!

  10. I just watched the latest “2023 Oliver Legacy Elite II Delivery Walkthrough” video https://youtu.be/DWrumIGw37k at time stamp 7:45 it shows LT235/65R16 for the tires! I'm just about ready to place an order for tire covers and of course the sizes of tires in the Oliver video and @Brian and Brandelyne's LE2 fall in 2 different cover sizes, i.e LT235/65R16 (28") = Covers 26” to 28.75” LT225/75R16 (29.3") = covers 29” to 31.75” I'm hoping the standard tires are now the LT225/75R16 (29.3"), I emailed Josh at Oliver so he can confirm.

  11. Thanks. The net is from Raingler. I love them, there are two in my LC200. I am a firm believer in restraining flying cargo or animals in the event of a collision. I had a net and a welded steel Milford Cargo Barrier from Oz in my old LX450. Here is the Raingler Super Duty net: https://raingler.com/collections/ford-f250-f350-vwr-heavy-duty-cargo-nets Your do most definitely need door and front seat drool guards from Amazon. Older or injured dogs need assistance getting in, steps or a ramp work OK. John Davies Spokane WA

  12. Thanks for the advice. I can put it in the back seat of my truck - I would just prefer not to because of other "stuff" we usually keep there. Truma makes a nice cover for it and that would protect it from most of the elements and also keep it cooler. I believe it's an insulated cover. Not cheap - around $180. I also thought that it might need to sit on a better platform than what could be supported by a 2" receiver. For clarity, I don't plan to leave it on the back of the trailer all the time. Would go in the garage when we're done camping. The appeal to having it on the back of the trailer is accessibility but I'm obviously not interested in destroying it. I would line the Pakmule with something to soften the roads bumps. In hindsight, I should have measured the height from my truck bed to the bottom of the tonneau cover. I honestly didn't think I'd have a problem fitting it in there...but it doesn't. It is a large cooler. If anyone's interested in a brand new C73 from Truma PM me 🙂

  13. Great storage solution for the back seat of truck for gear and dogs!! I've been planning on a flip-up deck for the back seat of our F 250 and after seeing your setup it's going to be my next project. (Way cute dogs too) thanks John!!

  14. I vacuum the blinds with my dyson, and the brush fabrics tool. I do have one mosquito spot that I've not tried to get rid of. I left it, to remind my husband to not kill mosquitos on the shades. Maybe someday I'll try, but it's been there over ten years....

  16. I agree! With Amazon’s supply chain and delivery issues during and post Covid 19, I always go to EBay for a price check. As an example, I purchased a Victron Cerbo GX last December for $80 less than Amazon, with free shipping. Amazon is very easy to do business with, as long as you don’t need to talk with them. But I often save money at EBay. Mossey

  17. It depends on whether you consider ebay reputable. I have purchased from sellers with multiple 100% positive ratings before, with good results. The $66 price tag would interest me, compared to $124 from etrailer: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144977315480?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1LXuh-QgGSqeAryZhSSnfng90&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=144977315480&targetid=1644837435723&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9029558&poi=&campaignid=16743749222&mkgroupid=138744546207&rlsatarget=pla-1644837435723&abcId=9300842&merchantid=6296724&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsNjQr5Po_QIVYAWtBh2ZbATpEAQYAiABEgIVePD_BwE

  18. I'm sure it's total photoshop. Just wanted to lighten up the conversation. Struck me as funny. That front wheel drive car isn't going anywhere with that camper.

  19. Hey, Ollie - OK, that's hilarious. But as a previous AS owner, I've never encountered what looks like a fairly newish 25-foot Flying Cloud without Worthington tanks and a hitch jack! How did they attach that rig to the VW? Photoshop, maybe? Dunno... Still funny tho!

  21. You are 100% correct that there is more than plenty of towing information both here and on the thousands of other forums and RV sites all over the internet. That “these people” apparently have not taken the advantage of this plethora of free information speaks volumes. They are either completely oblivious to the terrible danger they are placing on themselves and everyone else that shares the road with them OR they don’t care because everything seems to be “just fine” OR some combination of it all. I didn’t get the impression that any comment was “making fun” of them. If these comments have alienated them, I shudder at the thought of the way they’ll feel with a good lawyer bringing up the same points.

  22. I'm going to disagree. I think it led to an important discussion about choosing an appropriate tow vehicle. An overloaded tow vehicle endangers not only its occupants, but everyone else on the road. If a thread like this encourages others to choose wisely, it's good for them and us. If somebody had come into this thread with data that said the pictured vehicle was, in fact, rated appropriately for that trailer, we would have learned something there, too.

  23. SeaDawg, I feel the content after snakeriveridaho should be taken down. Regardless of the TV choice, I'm sure these are very nice people that feel attacked and are the brunt of several jokes. My first TV was a light duty 1/2 ton and marginal to pull the LEII. I knew this when I purchased my trailer. I took one short trip as a test run to see if my truck would do the job. Although my truck was marginally qualified it became clear I needed a new TV. A week after the test run, I purchased an adequate TV. I had hoped my first truck would do the job because it was a nice truck and the price tag for more robust TV was a financial stretch at the time. I'm willing to guess several of the current LEII owners are on the edge of the TV's payload but have the power to pull the trailer. We are not making fun of them. Please take down what is most likely received as unkind content .

  24. It appears for the second time in as many weeks, we have taken what started off as a friendly post and turned it into pointing out the potential bad decision of others, regarding their, what appears to be, tow vehicle decision. Given I don't know any of the background regarding the owner, the vehicle or circumstances, I choose to keep the original post friendly and kept my options to myself. If the owner had been identified, and I felt the need, I would have messaged them with my concerns. These types of what I would call "piling on" threads, make this forum seem unfriendly and sometimes down right mean. It is my hope that the owner, is not part of the forum and does not read this thread. I wish I hadn't. One Man's Opinion, Andrew
