  1. Yes, the sea biscuit box looks very well made, I just couldn’t justify paying $1200 for a box that I can get on Amazon for more than half the price. Yes I know it’s not the same quality but I (me personally) don’t need a “safe” to hold my chocks, levelling blocks etc. in, but hey, that’s why there’s dark and white chocolate, I like dark chocolate! My $350 box from Amazon is working perfectly fine for my needs. 😊

  2. @DavidK truma will not usually install nor warranty a unit bought on ebay, or from anyone else but truma. Hull #26 would indicate an elite 1, which truma told me years ago they would retrofit. With their equipment, at their shop. In the early elites, it's a pretty easy swap. We have no ducting, so no retrofitting there, like early elite 2's . Good luck.

  3. Hi David, Welcome to the fourm. In May of 2023, Oliver Service retrofit our OLEll with the newer quieter 13.5 BTU Truma Aventa AC. While at the service center I asked Jason Essary who is now the Director of Sales and Service if the techs had ever retrofit the Varioheat furnace to which he replied no. At the time, he said that it would be a very expensive and really involved (labor intensive) retrofit and not something that Oliver would ever consider doing. As for the control panel, I do think you can purchase it separately as we opted to purchase and have this control panel installed when we had Oliver install our new Truma AC. The control panel in our case serves as a back up should the Truma AC remote fail. I suggest you give Oliver Service a call (888) 526-3978 and ask if they have ever retrofit the Varioheat furnace. To my knowledge they have not. Please post up what you learn from Oliver. Patriot 🇺🇸

  4. Yes, that will upgrade the AGM's to Lithium. There are some other considerations, however. You will have to change about a dozen of the settings on the IPN-Pro. If you've never done this before, it can be daunting. It is not intuitive, it's relatively complicated and you WILL mess up, more than once before it's done. Don't bother calling Oliver, they have no idea how to do it, never did, never will. I will be happy to assist you if you go this route.

  5. For some reason, not for DIYers in North America. Europe and Australia, no problem. I can get parts from Europe, but I'm hoping to wrap it up. Truma is good stuff and I really wanted the Aquago Comfort Plus with water recirc. Truma said they wouldn't mess with the plumbing, but they would have installed the regular Comfort and the Varioheat. I would have had to go home and come back a month or two later. So I just did it myself and got the Comfort Plus. Olivers are easy to work on because of the space between hulls. I'll post all of my retrofit work when I'm done. The water heater install actually has gone pretty smoothly, but that's because it came with the controller. I should have been more careful with the furnace. I assumed it would work with a regular thermostat.

  6. Ditto. I would only say "Danger Will Robins Danger". There is a good reason OTT cut off the corners of the front box. I and many other owners have the "witness marks" to prove it. 😞

  7. JD's and other's use of these game changers is noteworthy. Much more power is available than from our three 100 AH battery (Battleborns) bank.

  8. All the pd manuals are available online. https://www.progressivedyn.com/support-manuals-troubleshooting-guides/ If your unit that you bought used is suspect, and Amazon, start the return process, and just buy a new one. They're not that expensive, and you will have full support from progressive dynamics. Even though you bought it elsewhere, they are likely to help. Have model and serial # ready, and call their tech support. Best of luck.

  9. I don't have a generator box, just a rubber maid container to put my chocks and stuff in that goes into the front tray/box Oliver provided. I was just putting an option out for others who visit this thread as I mentioned I know several who have the products from Sea Biscuit. Everyone's needs and budgets are different.

  10. I would be more concerned when turning sharp corners or turnarounds with your setup; even backing up into a campsite pad could be challenging, which is usually not a straight shot! Aside from that, you’ve made good use of this valuable real estate; really like the gas can mounts. Many owners have added weight to the tongue and seem pleased, rear additions or not. Good luck with your endeavor!

  11. Here is the Blue Sky settings as given to me by the Battle Born folks four years ago. I have shared these settings with Steve and others over the past few years and Steve is correct about the IPN Pro set up but once you have been through it, it’s pretty easy. I think it took all of about five minutes to program these settings. The settings are also good no matter what lithium battery brand you choose. Several years ago Battle Born seemed to be the best choice but today there are several brands that are of high quality.

  13. I could not find one for purchase online. I wonder if Oliver Service would sell you a Truma CP Plus wall control, with connecting cable, out of their inventory, with the understanding that the warranty would be voided? Sounds like you have the DIY skills to do the install. With Truma's limited service locations, the warranty has little value to me anyway, living in Idaho.

  14. Good news! When I asked Jason about the Truma retrofit, I was asking about this being done on an OLE2. A lot more duct work to be done for sure. No duct work on the LE1 will might make it a pretty straight forward install. Edit- you may want to double check with Oliver on the Truma retrofit.

  15. Yes, agreed it’s really good stuff and all our Truma appliances have really served us well. Great move by Oliver to transition over to all Truma products. Zero complaints here. A little Truma trivia. The Truma Coporation is actually named after US President Harry S. Truman! 😊🇺🇸 Truman was instrumental in the his role in the Marshall plan which really helped Germany become industrialized after WW2. 😎 Wishing you well with your retro fit @DavidK let us know how it works out. 16. It's a super easy swap with the Suburban cassette furnace that is original. The newer Olivers have ducting and all that, so it makes sense that they don't retrofit those. I've confirmed with everyone that it's possible (and quite easy). After my experience with Truma directly trying to get an appointment for them to do it, I just decided to save time and do it myself. I was surprised that the unit doesn't just plug into a basic thermostat. So now I need a Truma control panel. Oliver service btw, continues to be outstanding. They reply almost immediately. I wish I had been close enough for them to do it, but they also have a pretty good lead time for service.

  17. Back to the original question - To make this even more simple you don't really have to even swap the PD charger! The old charger will still charge the new lithiums but it will not "fully" charge them nor charge them in the absolute best manner. However, it will not damage them. Another item to consider though is that you do not want to use the charging system to "equalize" the lithium batteries. Therefore, make sure that this feature in your charging system is turned OFF. 18. Truma products are not for DIY-ers! My understanding is that they will not sell replacement parts but must be dealer installed. A Truma service tech installed about 8 SoftStart units in Truma A/Cs at the recent Texas Rally. From what I heard at the rally, the SoftStart had to be installed by Truma Service to retain product warranty. Wow, not a considerate policy! This aftermarket part can be purchased anywhere for under $300 and any first-year installer can splice the few wires and strap the part in place in a half hour or so. You can read here many positive testimonies for Truma products, yet also many posts reporting product issues. Truma seems best for those who had them OEM installed by OTT and those who service their Olivers with OTT. Why did you want Truma? You may have hit a dead-end on that used heater, or perhaps you can source a used control panel somewhere. Best wishes.

  19. Yep, $1200 for a toolbox no way for me! 🤣 With another $150 an Atmos AC system can be shipped to my door! Certainly a good price on this one. You made the frame weaker by drilling through it in 4 places. They show it mounted with U-bolts. I would add a steel plate under the compressor, large enough to cover all frame members short of the outer perimeter. Hold it down by the same 4 bolts to strengthen those points and better support your generator. I also like the ability to pull U-turns, steering fully cocked. I've found that even with my long-bed truck, Oliver in tow, I can pull a rather tight U-y when needed, as sharp as I can turn without the Oliver in tow. I'm happy with the basket OTT installed. We don't carry a generator, and our LP fire ring and several accessories fit nicely up there.

  28. The only time I ever have a tank in a vehicle is on the way to/from a filling station. Cracking windows won't help much because propane is heavier than air.

  29. Propane tanks should never be carried inside a vehicle in my opinion. At the very least windows need to be cracked for ventilation. Suggest you add an outside mount on the rear of the van.

  30. Finishes up everything today. I installed so much HW and wiring behind the panels there is so much room now inside! Blu-ray/DVD on the shelf, lower shelf empty after deleting the Wally. Room for a small box of DVDs, my extra Dewalt charger, Chris' fan, another very important tool and of course my hat! Football on everyday this weekend. Version 2 of this upgrade is done again. 😂

  31. 2024 was an amazing year for us. We sold our home in Loxahatchee, FL, moved to our condo in Jacksonville Beach, and recently completed our new mountain home in Dahlonega, GA. My new shop is up and making sawdust. We cannot be happier. My 2025 catalog has new products and many more pictures from Oliver Trailer owners who have had me craft upgrades. 32. UPDATE on our A/V system installation - Back in June 2023 when we purchased our Oliver, I thought the Winegard Dish Sat setup was a nice option to have. We got a Wally receiver and used it on one spring trip to Utah. We soon realized the monthly cost of the Dish Network, even paying a month at a time, was too much money for the value. I would prefer an antenna to view occasional local broadcast TV when traveling without monthly service fees. I just removed the Winegard satellite dish. I wished OTT had never installed this system for all the related repair work, though I will reuse the same coax feed for a new antenna. After some antenna research, I went with the Winegard Rayzar Automatic Antenna RZ-8500. It has the advantage of being self-adjusting, automatically turning the antenna for the strongest signals. These are expensive at over $400. Months ago, after looking on-and-off, I found a new unit from a private eBay Seller for $250 shipped! Living in Prescott AZ, broadcast HDTV is bounced off Mingus Mountain (think Jerome AZ) to the north of us, from Phoenix 100 miles to our south. Also, our Oliver is now parked behind our garage blocking line-of-sight to the repeater. However, the Rayzar antenna still found 13 frequencies, with subchannels connecting to 30 stations. This antenna works very well. I did not want a directional antenna that would need manual adjustments. It may appear that I’m removing one eyesore for another, but the new antenna is much smaller. The Dish Sat was a monster at 13” tall with 20” diameter. The Rayzar is half the height at 6 ½” and 15” round (notice screw holes from old unit in the picture). It is far less noticeable on the Oliver roof, just 2” taller than the solar panels and hardly noticeable from ground level. In the picture nothing is mounted, until all the fiberglass work is completed. The new antenna will be held tight with 3M 4950 VHB tape, no screws!

  33. This would be nice at times but will take depth from the seating area. I like the pool noodle idea or a lumbar pillow since they can be removed when dining. I have one that I can use at the dinette and always when watching TV from bed. Sitting correctly when eating I prefer the full depth, but perhaps not needed for all given Ron's comment. Our dog Charley likes to sit at the dinette in the morning looking out the window and when we are away for the day. We're looking now for a throw-cover, so he doesn't dirty the new fabric! Checkout my before and after picture. Our old cushions were just gross! I tossed out the bottoms but kept the backs which are great for kneeling when working in the Oliver basement! One reason ours got so dirty is that all summer I used them for kneeling or laying on the floor working all our Oliver mods.

  34. They put us on their November calendar. After running our trip, every time I sat on the old cushions, I thought it would be a shame to merely reupholster with new cloth yet keep the 9-year-old foam. When we dropped them off, I asked about new foam. He said the quality of foam for seating they carry is far superior to what we showed them in the old cushions. We went with 24x25" bottoms with 5" new foam (1" taller) and with the batting and fabric, the cushions are closer to 6" tall. We had 2" clearance under the window frames with the old cushions. The new ones just fill the opening and stay nicely. Went with the original sized 4" foam for the seat backs. All new foam, batting, fabric, zippers with newly corded edges. Chris loves the color given her Red, White and Blue Oliver theme! We spent just under $500 out the door. Which for me was better than the $350 for upholstery only. Soon, she will look as good as she tows or provides inverter power!

  35. Hard to beat this price and two of these fit nicely in the battery tray. Epoch has a USA10 code now for 10% OFF. Buy direct from Epoch and they charge sales tax and shipping. Buy from this company and get them to honor the Epoch 10% OFF sale. They do not charge tax and shipping. I bought these for $1,798.20 total during their 4th of July sale.
