  1. Hello all, In mid April purchased 2019 LE II, Hull 484. Looking forward to continue to learn as much as possible on these forums about the maintenance of our trailer and modifications everyone has done.

  2. Bought the Dyson Humdinger handheld vacuum and thought this would be great for the Oliver if it had tube extensions to be able to vacuum standing up. Somehow I found tube extensions in the EU market and hopefully it becomes available soon stateside. Works great and is small/lightweight. Uses a mini hard surface roller that picks up sand and dirt efficiently. Mounted (VHB tape) it in closet for recharging. One of my favorite things in the TT with 3 kids and 2 dogs... Clean floors! To cleanliness, Mike After a little research... looks like the micro is what it is called. It is very similar to what I put together. https://www.dyson.com/support/vacuum-cleaners/cordless/micro

  3. Same here. When one travels with a couple "knuckleheads" like we do -- the handheld is definitely a "must-have": FYI: We converted the handheld's charging supply to operate on 12vDC - makes it way more convenient w/o having to fire-up the inverter.

  4. Seriously, there are number of 'Hamies' on the forum. Bugeyedriver (OL I) MaxBurner (OL II) that have probably done this before. And ScubaRx could probably alert you as to where best to drill so as to NOT snag anything. B~Out

  6. Yep, inflation at work! This is the first time I have purchased Goodyear Endurance ST tires even though I own two utility and one motorcycle trailers in addition to Ollie. Our original spare tire is a P215/60R/16 when other owners have a taller P215/70R/16 on their 2015 & 2016 LE2 and the new ST225/75R/15, about an 1.1" larger in diameter (using your handy calculator), taller 15" Goodyear Endurance on the right. The new Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R/15 fits easily into the original housing, like Oliver said, Two problems so far, the aluminum wheel mount needs to be moved up about 1/4" to 3/8" for the new tire to clear the bottom portion of the fiberglass housing. Planning to take the aluminum wheel mount to a local machine shop to have the existing holes milled lower to reposition the new tire higher to clear the fiberglass housing. The other problem is getting an allen wrench & allen ball driver in the two top bolt heads to hold while removing outer elastic nuts securing the tire aluminum mount. Had to cut part of an allen wrench off to clear the hull, it works too. Letting Oliver know what I found, so far.

  7. I’m thinking 🤔 mine will live in my camper shell full time. They’re designed for off-road duty for lifted trucks/Jeeps so it’s perfect for my GMC 2500 TV as a bonus. Cheap insurance. My Discount Tire Shop's floor jacks wouldn’t lift my Oliver and they wouldn’t use cribbing. I now have the ability.

  8. Piece of cake. Get one of these and you'll be able to convert your house battery voltage to whatever the output is for your vacuum's wall wart. Our's is a 14.4vDC wart. If yours is close to battery voltages, you can also simply use a cigar-type plug connected to the vacuum charging plug and use your OTT 12v outlet... We also use a handheld blower for both the TV and Casablanca - again, we travel with a couple fur missiles. Easy peasy.

  9. Thank you for the welcomes. Here are a couple pics. First was when we got it home and second it’s a little shinier now after a good polishing. It was stored indoors by 2 previous owners so did not take much to bring out the shine. 2 mods on my list for down the road. Install solar. (All wiring was installed by OTT during build) and replace the Dometic AC.

  10. For years I resisted carrying a vacuum in the Ollie - simply it was too small of a space to justify carrying yet another piece of equipment. I went with a couple of 6 foot throw rugs thinking that I could just pick them up, carry them outside, shake them out and put them back. Surely this would be enough to keep the Ollie clean! Sadly - not to be. My method was kind of OK for quick tidying up but it really didn't get my Ollie clean. So, I too resorted to carrying a re-chargeable small vacuum. Yes, I still do the "take the carpets outside thing", but the small vacuum makes cleaning the rest so much easier. Bill

  11. This was sent me by Oliver upon request when I converted to LFPs last summer. In particular, Setting 20 (Battery Type) was switched to LFP and Setting 24 (Charger Current) on my Xantrex was checked and left at the factory 90 value for my older Freedom 2000 unit.

Just wanted to pass it forward to anyone who may want a concrete pad during next years rally. If interested you may want to call LGSP and scoop up this site, it will likely get gone quickly. 18. This little Craftsman has been our go to hand held vac and lives in our Oliver when traveling. It’s also handy while on long trips to keep the interior of our TV floor and truck Bedrug clean. It takes up very little space and has served us well. https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-V20-Cordless-Hand-Vacuum-Bare/5000250841?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-tol-_-ggl-_-CRP_SHP_LIA_TOL_Online_C-D-_-5000250841-_-local-_-0-_-0&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD2B2W9-XLQQI4H7JdrLfEr1cBTh4&gclid=CjwKCAjwx-CyBhAqEiwAeOcTdVuoDkejzEvHyzvxUPmjaPWSHmx4DfPyYeZlRjKtWRi17fhc-Z2VhBoCt8UQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

  19. The unique part of my Dyson humdinger setup is the extension wand so that the handheld can be used with a motorized hard surface head standing up! Maybe the micro tube replacement will work but you probably need to call Dyson support to check for compatibility. And acquire the mini motorized head. Anyway, I think it is a scavenger hunt. Wish I had my old links, I did this a couple of years ago. Maybe there is another solution I am not aware of. I too threw out the long runner carpet a long time ago. This may work: https://www.dyson.com/support/journey/spare-details.971606-10

  20. I forgot about the 300AH model, and it makes a whole lot of sense! Thanks for the reminder. Go with the two 300s is my take. Bottom line, 460AH is VERY good, 600AH is exceptional, and if you're our friend @rideadeuce who ditched the tray to go for 2x460, OMG 920AH is "priceless." Both options fit in the battery tray. The smaller 300s at 58 LBS are easier to handle in length and weight vs. the 20+" 84 LB monster. At today's prices I calculate the 460 is $3.04/AH and the 300s are $3.66/AV, but you get 600AH! Right now, the is a MEMORIAL10 code, so two 300s are 1,978.20 plus tax and ship! Wow, I want these, but still have to wait for other mods. Last Black Friday they had an extra 15% OFF sale. You could start with just one, but that is barely more usable AH than what you already have. As far as wiring @topgun2 is correct, but I would not pull a fuse in your tow vehicle (TV). You may want it when towing another trailer and forget it's disconnected. It is simple enough to pull the wire at the positive busbar. Here is a picture of mine, though your newer hull may be different. Should be a black wire, easy enough to test. When disconnected from both busbar and TV it should show open/no voltage. When connected to the TV you should read +12VDC. Test OFF and ON until you are certain. In my pic, it's the black wire on the left hanging. Later I taped it up and taped it to another insulated wire, so it sits open.

  21. In my test, the 40A Renogy DC-DC reduces the typical 108A draw when running the A/C on battery while underway to 68A; getting full output from the charger means it is properly dialed in! I have no reason to run the A/C while underway other than pre-cool the interior prior to an anticipated break for lunch or a rest. When doing so, the batteries rebound by the time I reach my destination. You could see a 50% reduction in battery draw by the A/C with your charger, even more if you have solar, as well. Unfortunately, I have not been able to monitor the house batteries via the Victron Smart Shunt and Connect app from within the TV, and the breaker did trip once for some unknown reason. That said, I’ m sure you have a way to ensure your dogs are okay, perhaps temperature sensor alarms. NEway, thanks for your post and good luck with the endeavor!

  23. Yes, to your question. A friend of mine could not get his 6 volt Trojan's to charge up. I asked him if he had checked the distilled water level in his. OOPS. Had not. several cells were near dry. Basically lack of maintenance can fry serviceable type batteries. Not being familiar with your batteries, if they are the serviceable ones: Have you checked the water level in all of the cells? If one was low, then a very easy check with a hygrometer of the acid in each cell will tell you the serviceability of the battery. If you find one defective it is generally felt that you would need to replace them all. If you are leaning towards Li's, but are not ready to start the project this season, you could get a couple of COSTCO deep cycle marine 12V batteries and swap cables around to your loads. That could buy you another season to plan out your game plan. GJ

  24. It's about the only trailer tire (ST) made in the USA! Put a set on my flatbed trailer 5 years ago. When I noticed the price today, I was like, What??? Just the cost of the today's economy. I'm going to have leave these on 10 years vs. 7! We only use it on slow roads around the county to haul dirt bikes, or an occasional trip to Lowes or Depot, low miles, keep them covered. Size on mine a little smaller. That would have been +$10 back then. Wow, by the time I need new ones they'll be $300 each!

  27. Sorry for the threaddrift, Mike. We're all good now. We have a friend in the tree service. Came out to survey two hours after the tree fell Monday morning. By Tuesday noon, his skilled crew got everything off the roof, with no other collateral damage but the original bashing of the ornamental cupola, and a few minor original dents and dings. Took down five other "suspects" for us, near rhe barn. Anyone in the Asheville area, I can highly recommend B nB Tree service. Owner Craig is highly responsive. TJ, lead guy on our last two jobs, is highly skilled, very safety concious, and super careful. A less careful crew could have caused major consequential damage. @jd1923, you can bring that chain saw in the fall, if you like. We'll run races with our big Husqvarna ranchers, when the pile of logs has had time to dry a bit. Stihl 026 is an awesome piece of equipment! This job required a bucket truck, lift, and skilled service. The metal roof was slick as snot, by the way.

  29. We replaced a big bank of six volts on the boat with the Epoch 460. It's heavy, but light for the power it stores. Epoch also makes well reviewed smaller batteries, with comm. Two 100 ah batteries would probably fit, but the 460 is ip67 rated (best for the boat) and I think the 200 are only ip 54 or ip57. Still, in a sealed compartment... There are options beyond Battleborn. None are actually "drop in." My husband and our friend did some wiring changes. We already had controllers. Required setting changes. So far, so good, but only six months or so in. 11 year warranty. Epoch was a fraction of the cost of battleborn, for same storage capacity. Will prowse reviews on tear down were impressive. We took a fly, and I'll update as we go. (600 watts of solar on the boat. No shore power connection, normally. We haven't plugged in for 5 years, at least.) So, we'll update as the years go on.. JULY 2025 EDIT: Will Prowse has done some testing on current production Epoch batteries, and they are no longer on his recommendations list. Before buying any lifepo2 batteries, I'd google youtube will prowse (insert battety name) and see what he has to say. Will doesn't take free stuff for recommendations, and he's a sharp, thorough young man. Many of us here have followed him for years on YouTube, and his forum.

  30. I have been doing research lately and found generally 16"X6" 6 lug/5.5 spacing aluminum trailer wheels are a more expensive than 15"X6" 6 lug/5.5 spacing aluminum trailer wheels of the same model & manufacturer from the same vendor. On the other hand the ST225/75R/15 Goodyear Endurance trailer tires (MSRP $199 ea) are not much lower in cost compared to good quality LT225/75R/16 tires. Walmart had Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R/15 on sale for $187, Discount Tire matched that price. Discount Tire Denver NC told me some good news while there today. They said they will install LT tires on trailers as long as the maximum load capacity of the LT tire when multiplying number of tires meets or exceeds the trailer's Gross weight, but they would have to see the trailer's documented GVW. One of the first 2010 Oliver LE2 had 15" wheels/tires. For several years many folks called ST tires "may pops" because they never knew when they would pop. Goodyear Endurance ST tire made in USA is a great quality trailer tire.

  33. As we subject our trailers to the abuse of highways and travel, we should expect some problems and issues. But one that I had not expected came from the original installation of the cellular telephone extender external antenna, mounted on the top, rear, street side of the trailer. When I would plug in the trailer electrical connection to my truck, the running lights fuse in the truck would blow. I figured the plug had a problem, so changed the plug. Still the same problem. Let it set for a few weeks, for various reasons, and it worked fine. The problem was everytime the fuse blew, it was $6 for a new fuse. And I didn't know when/why the fuse was blowing. So, I took it on the road, and eventually, about 2 days out, the fuse blew again. I just didn't drive at night or in the rain. When I got home, I took it to the trailer repair store - Conejo Vacation Trailers in Thousand Oaks, CA. Mike had the trailer for 6 days and figured out that one of the screws from the antenna mounting had made its way to the running lights wire insulation, and caused a short. It had punctured the insulation enough to cause the short. A green wire provides power to the running light/marker lights/tail lights. He was able to trace the green wire and through elimination, figured out the problem. He removed the screws from the antenna mount, glued the antenna mount onto the trailer and filled the mounting holes, and no more intermittent problem. I have been on the road for 3 weeks now without a blown fuse. I only mention this in the case that someone else has a similar problem. Oliver service had not heard of a similar problem. Mike, from Conejo Trailer, spent time on the phone with the Oliver service people, who were helpful in helping him to trace down the problem. (something else that should never have happened, as my drawer fell out again today. Tired of having to use duct tape to hold the drawer closed.)

  35. Most small generators only have a single duplex receptacle with two outlets. One outlet will be used for the neutral grounding plug, the other will require a 30 Amp to 15 Amp 110 Volt RV adapter. This is the one I bought from etrailer.com, but many similar are available on Amazon. I also make use of this plug at my storage facility for shore power.

  39. Whoa @SeaDawg! Sherry, it's a good thing that appears a light landing on the roof. Looks like the leaves and density of small branches cushioned the fall. We had an oak tree branch downed by lighting years ago. It took down a gutter, some roof damage and the rear of a Dodge Intrepid certainly needed a body shop. Hope it's just clean-up for you! If I was in the neighborhood, I'd be over right away with my Stihl 026 and pole-pruner to help! 🙂

  40. We’ve had a half dozen different grills since we acquired our first Oliver back in 2008. From a SS ceramic brick grill to a Weber Q. All were more trouble than they were worth for one reason or another. Some were always too hot, some not hot enough, some were messy to clean and all were impossible to pack into the vehicle efficiently. Until we bought a Black Stone. It easily breaks down into two almost equally sized pieces. I built a rack attached to the bed slide in the Silverado to specifically hold them. I also bought this folding table to set it on. This is the best system, by far, that we’ve ever had.

  41. So first real world test using new system to power AC on our trip from TN to Gulf Shores, AL. With the AC set on 74 we left at 4am and arrived at the beach around 1pm with temps in the upper 80s. Battery level was 64% but dwindling fast with higher temps. Pretty happy with the 8 hour drive with no DC to DC charging yet and able to easily make it with dogs in the camper resting comfortably. Looking forward to heading out West with on the road charging using the new 50 amp DC to DC charger and seeing how that works. Best, M

  42. The issue i have with the “neutral grounding plug” “neutral bonding plug” concept is it ties up one of the two (Champion 2500) Generator 110v Outlets. I just created a 10ft. 10ga. wire with a couple of large Alligator clips on each end, one to the grounding nut on my Gen., and one to a one penny spike i drive into the ground. That way i have an open 110v plug, when the gen is doing its business with the the other outlet. i.e. Run a coffee pot while charging the Batts. I just do not leave the coffee outlet drawing power longer than the brew cycle. You can hear the Gen draw down a bit. A bit Neanderthal, but it works for me.

  43. SAFETY RECALL REPORT RCLRPT-24V322-5775.PDF I am glad the recall was done looks like there was a 2nd unit found with incorrect coupler during service in April (See Chronology section). Appreciate Oliver for following through with this but agree with @Geronimo John and @jd1923 it should be posted in Safety/Recalls and it seems like Bulldog MFG should be doing their own recall. Also, it looks like OTT is planning to send out letters to owners by July 17th, 2024 just waiting on approval. Stay safe, Mike

  44. You're Welcome! The 15" Sendel S20 wheel and Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R/15 tire are coming from Discount Tire. They have the tire on hand, but the wheel will not arrive until 6/1. They will price match, so all I need to do is let them know who I can buy from at a lower price and they will match the price. 🙂

  45. For the most part - Jason (W) makes and/or posts these types of posts by copying them from other sources. Therefore, the specific brands, models, and other details contained in any specific post of this sort is not necessarily Oliver specific and are generally meant for "general" reminders or "general" information. In this specific example - we are being reminded to change the batteries in our installed safety devices - no matter which devices they really are. Bill

  48. Yep, you can even mod a fire ring being creative. We love our fire ring! We prefer to camp in cooler weather, and in the evening we sit by the fire ring for drinks and conversation. I understand the purists want a real campfire, but more often than not in the SW open fires are restricted. Also, I'm a hardworking sort but I dislike spending effort on something that is later "dust in the wind" with no resulting value. No smoke, no fire danger, just warmth. Often when Chris is starting dinner, she'll call out, "start the grill please." I'm thinking it's early for dinner, but she wants to start a couple baked potatoes. I've learned Irish women got to have potatoes, at least mine does often. So, I was sitting there by the fire thinking, "why should I need two fires going?" Being conservative (in more ways than one), the waste bothered me. After dinner, we sit by the fire ring again. I acquired this grill grate a few years ago from a guy that was renting our outbuilding. When moving out, he threw it away, so I saved it. Now I have a great use for it. Love reusing old stuff I've saved! It's some kind of weird form of accomplishment within me. Actually, the first mod to our fire ring was to replace the rocks. They come standard with some cheap version of lava rock, lighter than air, useless. We purchased these HD lava rocks and although it does add a few LBs to the ring, the amount of heat is certainly doubled! Amazon.com: Stanbroil Lava Rock Granules for Gas Log Sets and Fireplaces - 10 lb.Bag (0.8"-1.2") : Patio, Lawn & Garden You put these two upgrades together and you can cook anything that does not release grease: baked potatoes, other veggies, boil water, etc. It gets hotter, cooks faster than our small Weber grill. And this way I can turn the potatoes, butt in chair, drink in hand! I bought this item too. Got the 100-pack since we use them as a drip catch for the Weber and you can use them for this purpose too. ttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BRGWLGDG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These will also keep any juices from bleeding onto the rocks. A couple of pics to follow from our recent outing. I call the second one "campin' au gratins" and oh, they were sooooo good!
