  1. Getting ready for an upcoming trip. I thought I'd share some of what I do to stock for camping. My first shopping trip is to the home fridges and freezer, and my home pantry. I pull staples from dry goods. Partial bottles of ketchup, mustard, mayo, hot sauce are just fine. I might not come home with a partial, to add to another partial bottle. I often shop at Costco, so large quantities get broken down and portioned when I get home. Then, marinated or seasoned, and vac packed, labeled, and frozen, in the case of meats, poultry, and fish. I like to freeze items flat, on a cookie sheet,, so they stack better.. My freezer is a great start for camping proteins, just as it is for meal starters at home. The day before we leave, I usually make and chill a container each of pasta salad, potato salad, and cole slaw. Freeze sliced lunch meats. I precook a pound of bacon, and pack it in a flat container or ziplock. I cook/"boil" 6 to 12 eggs, as we like boiled eggs, and they can become egg salad for lunch, a quick breakfast, or a high protein snack. I try to make a list of proteins and ingredients on hand, so we often only have to add produce and bread in a two or three week trip. Sometimes, not much of that, either. I carry milk in shelf stable quarts. In cooler weather, I often make a batch or two of soup, and freeze it. Sometimes precook pasta, and store it in ziplocks, with a little olive oil. Depends on the season. I don't have a microwave, but precooked rice, pasta, etc, can be reheated easily stovetop, or in foil packets on the fire. It's nice to have some meal items prepped for the first few days or first week. Keeps dinner interesting, but easier, after a long day of exploring. Sherry

  4. From my view Oliver has over the years , made improvements on the product - many of which came from the owners suggestions. I am not on Ollie management team, but if I were to guess, there is probably some interest in new product, but fully realize the current demand has them fully engaged, and to take additional resources to develop a larger O - well - the return on investment probably isn't there right now - not to mention the lack of material and manpower and manufacturing space. Around here, everywhere you look, business is looking for employees. But you never know.

  5. From past posts, it looks like you may have bought 183? If so, it should have the Xantrex inverter. Some of this has already been suggested but I've added some photos. These come from 365 but it should be close to what you have. Your issue may be as simple as put the ON/OFF switch to the ON position. Don't worry, we've all done it. If it's that, then hopefully these trouble shooting tips will help someone else. If it's more than that, here are some additional things to look at. 1.) Check that the inverter is turned on at remote (green light in "Inverter Power Control Close-up_ON" photo). If the green light will not turn on, proceed to step 3. 2.) Check the power indicator at the bottom/back of the inverter. The indicator should be green and the red led should cycle to show voltage in (see photo "Inverter Control and Power Display"). If power comes on, proceed to step 4. 3.) Turn on inverter at inverter by pressing the green power button next to the LED display (noted above). - If power comes on, re-seat the "phone" cable just above the LED display. This is the cable to the remote power switch in step 1. Proceed to step 2. - If inverter did not turn on, it may have failed or is not getting power. Proceed to step 5. 4.) Check the GFCI outlet on the back of the inverter located under the port side bed (twin models) or port aft dinette seat (standard models). Check that the GFCI is not tripped. (See photos "Inverter Power Outlet_GFCI"). Check power at the outlet by plugging something in. (See "Inverter Power Check") If power is good at the inverter, make sure the 120 volt plug is fully seated and re-seat the plug at the inverter as it feeds other outlets in the trailer. 5.) If you can measure voltage, check for 12 vdc at the inverter. If voltage is good, I would suspect the inverter. If no voltage, trace back to batteries. This will include the large ANC fuse under the forward side dinette (see photo "ANC Inverter Fuse). Be care, these cable can draw a lot of power (see photo "ANC Inverter Fuse" top of photo, fuse block connected to large red cables). Check positive voltage both sides of fuse. Let us know how you make out. For the moderators, maybe a section on trouble shooting tips? - Randy

  6. Bought this on Amazon since we are temporarily living in the trailer. Seems like it's going to work. Put a bit of cushy styro behind top corners - bottom has suction cups.

  7. Has anybody read every single posting? Which ones does everybody skip over?

  8. I haven't read every post, but I've read most of them. Back when I joined, there was little enough content that you could read through all of the old posts, and so I did. And now I at least glance at most of the new posts just as part of being a moderator. Some things, like the classified replies, I don't pay a lot of attention to.

  9. I average three months a year in our OE2. Sure lots of the above thoughts and ideas are great to dream about. But for the boondocking and high mileage that we cover, our OE2 is just about perfect. My only strong issue with the design is that the A/C noise is horrible. This issue is not a new one for Oliver as it comes up again and again. My hope is that Oliver is looking at a retrofit A/C units (Heat not required) that is substantually quieter than our existing units. The goal would be for them to offer it as an improvement for the next model year, and as an upgrade to existing owners when our "Hammer Mill" A/C units wear out.

  10. The downside of not listening to your customers and potential new customers and then using that market research to make continuous improvements - is that your products get stale and folks will look elsewhere. Just as there are Elite I owners who probably transition to the Elite II, I'm sure there are Elite II owners that would like to transition to a larger Oliver - but that is not a choice right now. Based on comments on this forum, it appears there is a market for an Elite III.

  11. The rack itself may stay in place while traveling. Definitely have it empty before hitting the road. Thanks

  12. Sure. Note that this is for longer stays as depending on your faucet you have to screw in the lower bar (2 screws) after you set it behind the sink. Unless you are comfortable traveling with it in place. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0886FHV6F?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

  13. 4.5" between top of basket and underside of cabinet but you can move these baskets around to suit. It is not adjustable side to side. I measured and knew it would fit.

  15. Dean - At the moment I do not have the time to look it up for you, but, there is a thread here on the Forum where various people have attempted to list what they would want in a Elite lll. Most of the suggestions are like yours - practical and sincere. But there are a number like a helicopter pad and hot tub that are pure fantasy. With current production like it is and demand so high for the existing products, I'm guessing that it will be awhile before we see the lll. Bill

  17. I like the size of the current LEII, but would really like a larger fridge. We rarely use the microwave, so I would be willing to have that space put to use for the fridge. Marsha

  18. Security is always an effort to prevent, knowing nothing is absolute. If a thief wants your stuff, and is resourceful enough, they will steal what they want. At some point, trying to prevent theft becomes more intrusive on your personal life, than the risk represents. Short of being present, and armed, I have usually just tried to be more preventative than the next guy, hoping the crooks take the path of least resistance. At the Guntersville event I looked at several of the security locks Oliver owners were using, I was impressed with the Gushill units, and will most likely purchase their products, with the best puck lock I can find. Between that and my canine security guard, that will have to be enough. Common sense, preparation, and awareness have served me well for the last many, many years, from one end of the country to the other, I'll keep doing what's worked - so far. On an aside, I never thought about the mischief that could happen while parked in route (say at a restaurant). The idea that some smarta** would undo my hitch latch, never occurred to me. I heard this warning Sunday, and will take measures to protect for such mischief. Perhaps we need some sort of human bug zapper protecting a 20 foot zone around the Ollie.
