  1. Just wanted to report on some extraordinary customer service I have received from Blue Sky Energy a division of Sunforge that manufactures the Blue Sky Solar Boost model 3024iL I have on my Oliver. After our return home from a week in southern Utah the thing died on me out of nowhere. Called the company the engineer or tech guy had me go through a few of the settings on the IPN Remote controller and decided I should send it. Said they would repair it for free, this after 7 years of use and 2 years out of warranty. Only thing I had to loose was shipping to the company and of course I gladly obliged. Turns out the inductor had a broken leg, so they replaced that as well as the relay, and updated the firmware then packed it back up and its on its way back all in one day. No charge, not even for the return postage. Wow! I don't why Oliver decided to eliminate this company from their solar setups but I rarely if ever have experienced such great support. Highly recommended for anyone needing a solar charging system. Thanks

  2. If the alternator checks out, my guess is the battery's in the Oliver are shot (likely from running the fridge on DC for the past few years). If you are not unplugging the trailer when you stop, in some vehicles the trailer battery's and the truck battery will try to equalize thus bringing the truck battery down to the level of the trailer.

  3. When my Blue Sky controller had an issue 4 or 5 years ago I also got excellent support from them. I called and had a tech on the phone for about an hour. I ended up sending it to them and in a week I had it back good as new. Great company. Mike

  4. This is what we did with our Renogy 200W suitcase (charge controller included). I triple-checked the polarity out of an abundance of caution. 🙂 I also agree that 200W is about as much portable as I want to handle, though it does stow nicely between the beds, or even on one of the twins. It's still heavy, and will only make the trip when we will be in one place for a while.

  5. Used the lego type blocks in the past but this year bought the Andersen Levelers and really like them. Quick and easy.

  7. Hello’s All 🤗 985 Skigator Egg is on the traveling path ! Picked up 11 Jan 22 . Two nights at the factory, being newbies , needed some re-education on a couple of the systems before venturing out . The minor issue of a warped closet door was solved with a new replacement door . Service dept. was / is great 👍 Second week had some challenging moments. Bad tire valve stem cores led to 3 visits to tire repair facilities near a friends stop . About an hour on the road from tire fixes , pulled into a rest stop near Tifton Ga & water pump on truck blew up . Guardian angels or positive Karma was watching over us . Able to get a tow (truck & trailer) to 4th (called) repair that could get us in . A young , energetic lad ( Forrest) let me assist him in replacing the new pump ! 8 hours later , back on the road !! Combat time in the Air Force has given me the mantra “ Ten fingers , ten toes …. not a bad day !! “ Continuing to the Keys later this week, before eventually back up to home in Cambridge NY safe travels…. Cheers 🤟🎣🐟 Ed & Nancy

  8. I agree. Sunforge/blue sky is amazing. Ryan on tech services has helped us through several situations. Amazing service, and I can tell you after 14 years, the gear has long legs . It is, however, a learning curve to use the blue sky. A bit of time invested.. Zamp was definitely more user friendly/easy/ interaction-free for the industry, as witnessed by the general acceptance across the board, and industry . When we doubled our solar a few years ago, we added more blue sky /sunforge gear.

  9. Hello to the unmarked Elite II in downtown Boerne, TX this morning. Single bike on the back, I didn’t notice the TV, was just surprised to see an Oliver. Mike

  10. If I have to have trailer tires up on legos to level, then I use an X-chock type between the tires for safety and stability. The normal chocks won’t work when up on legos. If all four tires are on the ground I usually don’t use them. Mike

  11. I have the levelmate pro. I velcroed it inside the coat closet. Worked great the first week. I'm experiencing frequent loss of connections though. Generally while I'm in the cab backing onto my levelers. However, even when I'm at the hitch I seem to lose the connection for the hitch height return. I can't imagine it's the batteries already, but I haven't checked. When it's working, wow does it make things easy!

  12. I bought this on eBay at a great discount, they advertised it as Open Box. This is what I found on the outside of the Dewalt box: I am not sure what happened. Was this a case where somebody tried to ship a firearm illegally as "tools" and the shipping company found it? It looks like somebody tried unsuccessfully to peel off the sticker, which explains why it shipped to me inside another plain box. I have never heard of this situation when buying an item online, any comments? There was nothing wrong with the tool or any of its parts; unfortunately there was no free Uzi inside…. 😬 John Davies Spokane WA

  14. SeaDawg asked the first thing I thought about. I personally would not run my refrigerator on DC, would run it on LP gas.

  15. This was one of the first things I installed, since I do find myself traveling solo on occasion. Combined with the Anderson levelers, getting set up in camp has never been easier. Definitely one of those things that makes me say "How did I go so many years without it?"

  16. If I rotate a pic on my iPhone 13 Mini, it then uploads in the original sideways position. I have not quite figured out why, maybe because it always saves the original so you can Revert back to it? It did not used to do that…. If I open and edit it on my iMac, the change is forever. As the years pass and I become More Senior these tech mysteries become deeper. John Davies Spokane WA

  17. I put this setup together to augment the one I built for my trucked cover. I can connect all the panels in series/parallel for a total of 940 watts. (including the ollie roof panels) These are BougeRV 100 watt 9bb panels. Much cheaper than the portable offerings from Zamp. Hopefully I will be close to net zero while running the Houghton AC in full sun.

  18. Pulled Tail #1052 out of the Ollie hangar on 17 March, stayed on the OTT ramp that night. Day 2 we departed for a Harvest Host winery about 15 miles east where we spent the night, then a Harvest Host brewery on night 3 in Alabaster AL, before landing back in the FL panhandle on Sunday. Trip went well, love the camper. Thanks to all the awesome forum members whose knowledgeable contributions went a long way in helping us prepare for our delivery. Still much to learn, but so far so good! BTW, I'm not smart enough to figure out how to rotate the pics left or right...

  19. Others may disagree but we have stored our Elite II with 4 lead acid batteries over long Montana winter months with no issues for 7 years now. All I have done is to make sure they are fully charged, then turn off solar, and all parasitic battery drains. Once I bring the camper out of storage they still maintain a charge of 12.8 volts ± a fraction. If you leaved them plugged in and continually charging you will most like boil the water out of them doing more damage in the long run than disconnecting. Note this includes solar charging as well. After over 7 years our 4 batteries are just now starting to diminish a slight amount as of this past winter. Hope this helps.

  20. Yes, yes, yes. Certainly if you are traveling solo these are a big help. Unfortunately, the Andersens are rather expensive and there are some users that have reported that these "slide" when used on certain surfaces. But I've had no issues at all in seven years of use. Bill

  21. We use the Andersen levels and jack stands. We had used the Andersen levelers for 5 years with our 5th wheel. They are easy to use with out having to add blocks.

  22. I like the Andersen’s. They are more expensive but I am mainly a solo traveler and find them easy to use on my own. I bought levelmate pro as part of pre trailer pickup supplies and have yet to install.

  24. We've used Lynx Leveler blocks for all our RVs. I like them because you can use them for other things, too, if needed (sewer hose ramp, picnic table legs, etc.).

  25. I get it as close to level as I can with the Anderson and then fine tune with the leveling jacks. Oh sorry, I meant to say stabilizing jacks 😆.

  26. I just replaced mine with black. I ordered 18 feet (as recommended in a past post) which was enought to do the 3 large windows and the bathroom window, with a little left over, but not enough to also do the back window which already had a black gasket. If you want to do all the windows including the back window, I think you should order around 21 feet. You should take your own measurements to confirm the length though. The black looks really good, a lot better than the white.

  28. Or ---- You could simply ditch the white window molding and get the black. Once and done versus dealing with the funk and grey. Bill

  29. I still remember my dad shaking me awake at something like 4am and hustling us all into the car for the oh dark thirty drive from Framingham to the Cape when we would go camp out there some summers. “ The early bird catches the worm “ he’d say. The traffic at the bridges was awful even way back in the sixties I guess

  30. Hi All RE: Boston area travel tips As someone that has lived in downtown Boston and surrounding suburbia since 1985. Here are some travel tips: 1. Peak traffic. Starts 3pm-7pm 2. Avoid Fri. Sat, Sun. 3. What's new? Thu is the new Fri. Often worse Thu 3pm-7pm May-Sep 4. Tech. Use GPS to plot alternate routes. Example Rt 495 5. Example: Take Rt 95 around the city instead Rt 93 thru the city 6. Solution: Travel off peak and you will increase your probability of free passage 7. Tech. Get a free EZ Pass transponder if you are a regular 8. Beaches=density. That's Cranes in Ipswich going north Rt 95 and Duxbury on Rt 3 going south 9. Rain=Add an hour 10. Caveat Emptor: Despite what the bumper stickers say..."There is no Cape Cod Tunnel". Add: 2 hours May-Sep during Fri, Sat, Sun. 11.Local Tip: go off peak 5-6am and 8-9pm and you may sail thru. That's what we do. 12. Consider: White Lake in Tamworth NH. Burlingame in Charlestown RI Ping me if I can help in any way

  31. Yeah, but sometimes you've got to bring in the big dogs. And most parks frown on that...
