Two years of use - my AGM's and the standard Oliver solar have been a decent set-up. Were it not for needing AC cooling every now and then, we would never need shore power. When the AGM's die, I'll look at the replacement options. If I was buying my Oliver today, I would seriously consider doing what Andrew K advised. As for Oliver selling the RV side of the business - money - lot of it - has a way of changing minds. Give it a few years - we will see. RB

We have been tracking the COVID-19 virus status and currently most all states in the Southeast are rated in the Red Zone. We have been monitoring the State of Alabama Department of Health COVID-19 website for periodic updates. Alabama remains High Risk according to the Alabama Department of Public Health. Unfortunately, many Oliver Trailer owners would be required to travel through numerous states that are at a higher risk level in several parts of the US. Our primary concern is for you, our customer, our friends, and all that enjoy camping in the great outdoors. Details on the 2021 Oliver Rally will be announced later in the year. All rally registration fees will be refunded within 3-5 business days. We finally installed our grapics today on hull 537 "Beacon" It was too cold to install them in Maine after we returned from picking the Ollie up in late October. It was warm enough today in the Florida Keys. We have been on the road since February 3rd and will end this year's trip at the Oliver rally. My wife took the pictures and the graphics/vinyl were done by Banana Banners of Bowdionham, Maine. (Thanks for the referral Mainiac) The photos are of the Pemaquid Lighthouse just 3 miles from home. Michelle and I picked up hull 610 on our 30th wedding anniversary in early June and made our way north, up the Blue Ridge Parkway, staying in RV parks and with Harvest Hosts along the way. Ollie life has been everything that we had hoped. Since our return to Maine, we have been on a couple more outings (Acadia had record low numbers of people for July). We plan to visit Gulf Hagas next. We just had a bit of graphics added to the Ollie, as a final touch. We look forward to seeing other Ollie owners on the road! - Jamie-

I was going home the back way yesterday, along the DF road, and was surprised to see Rhino "snoozing" in the warm sun. Looks good.

I recently had the shackle pin back completely out. Fortunately just as were pulling out of campsite. I am going to “mouse” them to the shackle body with black annealed tie wire. I found the attached on-line.

All you need is two 100 amp/hour LiFePO4 batteries with built in BMS and a battery monitor. If you are purchasing the trailer new, it will have an 2000watt/80amp inverter charger that can be set to charge the new batteries. 15 minutes to install the batteries and a few hours for the battery monitor, depending where you mount it. $2,500 max all in. Hey there 👋 I am Jordan Vidrine, from Cajun Country in Louisiana. (South Central area) My wife and I are looking into purchasing an Oliver Trailer (used or new) and I am joining this forum just to get acquainted with the user's and get more info about them. We have been searching for a trailer to take out for multple weeks/months at a time and work remotely in (we both have remote jobs, she is an illustrator and I am a web designer/developer). We decided on the Oliver after a year or so of searching for small but well designed trailers. They are the best we have seen by far in our search. Anyway, just wanted to say hi!

Welcome Jordan, Like Mike said there maybe someone not living too far from you who might be willing to show you their Ollie. This forum has a lot of experienced owners that you will find are very helpful and patient with questions. The search window and Oliver University are also excellent tools that help as well. Oliver has also provided pretty awesome videos on how to maintain different your areas of your Oliver. -Patriot

David, JD presents a very good, real world example of the load we can place on the Oliver battery system and that it could overload your battery cutoff. Here is some additional information to support his suggestion to remove or upgrade your battery cutoff. The Trojan battery manual provides a cable sizing chart which states that a 4/0 cable, 6' long can support 360 amps. Oliver installed a 4/0 cable with an in-line 250 amp fuse between the inverter and batteries in my trailer and I bet yours is the same. This means the fuse should blow before the cable would fail. Your 125 amp rated battery cutoff now becomes the weakest link in the battery system. It will not blow In an overload condition because it does not have that capability, but it might melt or burn and that is our concern. I do not always agree with JD, but I know he always has everyone’s safety in mind. And that’s a good thing for the rest of us. Mossey

Hi DavidS. The big fat black cable is your inverter ground, and it sometimes carries significantly more current than that disconnect is rated for (125 amps continuous). I suggest that you hook both cables back to the nearby post, without your switch. If you could find a disconnect with a higher rating, you could keep it as is, but your current situation (electrical pun) is a little risky IMHO. In theory you could just have the small cable going through a disconnect, but Oliver joins the inverter ground to the main chassis ground inside the hull (there was a recall about this a year ago) so the small cable ground would just find its way through that added wire to the battery.... Here is what is happening with my inverter running the microwave, while in sunshine, so the solar is contributing a little to offset the massive current draw: If you run the MW for a long time, like 12 minutes for cooking a couple of frozen dinners, or if you added even more load, like a heater or toaster while the microwave was going, it could start overheating your disconnect. Have you ever felt the disconnect while running a heavy load? Was it warm? I am not trying to alarm you, I just want to keep things safe. Those fat wires carry a whole lot of current, which is potentially dangerous. Google “welding with car battery”... John Davies Spokane WA

Susan Huff, this little hanging trash can from IKEA has a lid. Stainless and plastic insert. Doesn't fold or collapse, but it hangs on the wall, or sits on the floor. I think it might be the right size for behind my toilet in the Oliver. I have at least 6 inches unused space between the open toilet lid and the back wall. 8.5 x 5.25 x 11 should fit. I'll look at it next time I'm at IKEA. I think I should be able to hang it on a few command hooks.

I was looking for trailers in late 2015/early 2016 and I discovered Wincrasher’s 75 min video about his Oliver; That video was a big factor in my decision to get an Ollie! I also discovered his blog, where he complained about the electrical outlet above the kitchen. I did not want the cords hanging down, and somewhere in my research I discovered Carlon pop-up receptacles, and similar from Amazon. I asked Oliver if they could put this into the kitchen, and said no because they thought it would interfere with the galley drawers. This was when Oliver was willing to do customization, which is a good business model; the three extra electrical outlets we had them put in as options cost us $110 each. I still think these type of retractable outlets would be excellent in the kitchen; there are GFCI versions. Here is a photo of our toaster, plugged into the outlet we ordered below the curbside bed.

LEII Hull 635 delivered 6-10-20 has no outlets on the nightstand or under the beds unless you count the GFI located on the inverter in the space below the street side bed, which requires the access cover to be removed to use it! There is one outlet at the dinette floor next to the bath ( you have the cord for your computer in your lap when you use it) and one in the overhead cabinet for the microwave, one for the refrigerator. The space between the sink and cooktop has one under the overhead cabinet. The TV has one in the rear overhead cabinet, and one under the rear overhead for use on the nightstand, but it is on the street side corner and of course the weatherproof outside one. When we ordered our Ollie we were told they were removing the outlets in the nightstand for safety inspection reasons, we did not expect the others to go away. Still it is a GREAT trailer and we love it already (five nights) !!!!

In addition, there is an outlet in the hanging closet, in the overhead cabinet above refrigerator, and one on each side of the rear nightstand.

I posted about modifying my Weber grill some time ago. The YouTube videos I found useful are HERE and HERE. I bought the Weber Q RV Quick Connect Kit from propanegear.com for $49.99. The SKU for the model I got is not currently on their web site, but they have two versions available with eight foot or twelve foot hoses. Connecting the Outland bowl is easy - just change out the hose. I bought this adapter hose. If you are going full propane quick connect, be sure to get a couple of extension hoses so that you can position your devices where you want at your campsite. A friend gave me a CampChef stove, and we love it. Sometimes I want to have the CampChef and the Weber connected simultaneously, and so I bought a Y-adapter.

I've never worried about this in that other than my once per year cleaning and/or repainting of the whale tail, I've never had the situation where I needed to take those shackles off. However, shortly after I took delivery of my Oliver, I did purchase stainless steel shackles (Lowes, Home Depot, Ace) so that I would not have to deal with the eventual rust on the stock ones. Bill
