My wife Tina really loves the Lime Green and Black. We have a lot of “matching “ green accessories. It’s been fun. Tonight we are in Whitefish Montana. Today we stopped and went through the Museum of the Plains Indians in Browning Montana. It was very eye opening. Usually this time of year it is open but you see it on your own. We got very lucky that Glenn a member of the Blackfoot tribe brought several things to our attention to make sure to see and with his help made the time and the items in the museum very real. It was great. If you get out and travel we are seeing and doing exactly what we hoped. The Dream Girl continues to help us live our dream. Tina and Mike2 points

I spoke to the good folks at Anderson yesterday after submitting my posting here. They shared that for late model trucks (2016 or newer) they no longer suggest to disengage the Ford Anti Sway feature. Turns out that they had her incidentally and through the experience of a couple of employees with older trucks that the Anti Sway and Anderson ended up working against each other. Described the problem as jerky sway and attributed it to the two features being out of sink in their approach to preventing sway. They have not heard of this problem happening on newer trucks with anti sway. My personal experience lines up with what others have said. Till my new 150 arrives, I am still towing with a Chevy Colorado. No sway issues at all - a tiny bit of porpoising when running over big highway cracks. We've driven about 7500 miles with the Colorado which tows the weight well but can feel a little overwhelmed. It's in no hurry to get up to speed and, on very long hills in very hot weather, can run up against the comfy range for transmission temps. Otherwise, has been pretty solid. Has done fine on our east coast mountains, including the Whites in New Hampshire but we have eyes on trips in the Rockys so have ordered up. I don't believe bigger is always better but am looking forward to having a bit more safety margin in towing (11,500 lb vs 7,000lb) and a lot more payload capacity. Gerry2 points

A big thanks for Foy & Mirna Sperring for hosting the rally in Jacksonville. I've posted some pics for your viewing pleasure. We've ordered our LE-2 with an expected delivery date of next April. Jill and I appreciate all of you folks who showed us your Ollies and gave us advice. We have much to learn. . .1 point

New to Oliver (828), I noticed that there is a continuous draw on the batteries (lithium), about 10% drop overnight when practically nothing was on. What I learned, is the Zantrex draws on itself when left on, it when turned off, there is almost no draw. So, when 120 is not needed, turn off the inverter!1 point

Ordered our Elite 2 twin. Looking at a late July delivery. Gonna be a looong wait. Thanks for all the help making the decision!! Very excited. 😁 Dudley1 point

Luckily we still have good weather in TX and hopefully will camp year round. Last year was a fluke with the crazy ice/snow storm and zero degree temps. Prior years we've camped every month of the year without issue. We may have to blow out the lines and dry camp but we'll be camping! Cindy1 point

Yes, we spoke to her and she told us that she had a cousin with an Oliver! She didn’t ask for a tour, but seemed very nice. We like Table Rock State Park and visiting Branson. My grandparents lived there starting in the 60s through the 90s. Branson was a hole in the wall back then! Mike1 point

Mike & Carol, I believe I saw a photo my cousin posted on FB of your trailer at Table Rock State Park in the last couple of weeks. She was so excited to see an Oliver in person. I told her to ask for a tour as I was sure that you would be glad to show it off. I think she said they were next to you, they were tent camping and had a boat. Hope you have/had a great trip! Having gone from a 1 ton crew cab short bed pickup, dead weight ball setup, to a half ton short wheel base body on frame SUV…. In comparison the Andersen is a pain. NO doubt in my mind. The pickup rarely had problems with porpoising, not often enough or severe enough to be bothersome. Only on truly horrendous choppy highways. The only way to make an Andersen ready to go at the drop of a hat is to never disconnect it, which is what I try to do. (Careful campsite choice helps, find a spot that is dead level or slopes a little to the back, and it isn’t hard, but you have to be lucky.) It is a beautiful bit of engineering, and is mostly functional, but it does not contribute to my mental well being. I would be interested to hear more comments from those who went the other direction, after ditching the Andersen….. maybe it is time for a poll. OTH, as I grow older I have less and less tolerance for hardware that does not function seamlessly with me. 😳 Does that mean I am becoming a grumpy old man? Or just a realist? I look back at a long trip and the happier times are when I can stay hitched for three or more nights in a row.😀 John Davies Spokane WA1 point

Got it, thanks. Was looking in the wrong place! Now gotta make the map a little smaller.1 point

Nope, something John said stuck with me. That is, that WDH will end up being a pain. That rules out even the Ollie LE for me. I could only add 400 lbs of payload to the truck and about 900 lbs to the trailer comfortably. That puts my GVW right around 6000 lbs. and I'm rated at 6500 lbs. Thanks again for your help.1 point

I was thinking about a foam snow rake to clear the panels and then some kind of angled broom or car snow brush to clear the buildup behind the awnings by pushing it fore/aft and off the hull.1 point

My husband and I placed our order for an Elite II today! This forum has been wonderful so thank you all for the wealth of info you have offered. I am interested in DIYing some zipper bedding for our twin beds (upgraded mattresses) while we are impatiently awaiting our delivery date on 7/26. Is there a template out there somewhere? I haven't been able to locate one despite much searching. Stephanie B1 point

Congrats! Lots of time to explore accessories and plan trips. July will be here before you know it. Mike1 point

Great news for you. You've got plenty of time to plan trips for the first year and plenty of time to read everything that the Oliver University has to offer. Let us know if anything doesn't make sense to you. Welcome to the Family! Bill1 point

We waited and waited. That was five years ago. Time flies! Spend the time looking where you might want to go. Go to each state and look for their camper guide and order one. The maps are great and the pictures will show you the prettiest spots and pictures are probably miles from the Interstate. After all, the reason you ordered an Oliver was to get off the Interstate?1 point

We recently fabricated or cut a Queen size Casper “element” memory foam mattress into two twins. We were not comfortable on the Southern mattress with coil spring twins and sold them to another Oliver owner. I am 6’3 and a side sleeper and so far am very happy with the Casper mattress. We really like the twin set up as it just works better for us. We did not want to give up the night stand/drawer as we like the storage. PM if I can answer any other questions. And welcome to the forum!1 point

After reading the thread on the misaligned placement of the bracket and bushings for the Oliver's shocks, I went out to look and of course, I also have one blown shock! The shocks don't look terribly expensive but can you guys tell me how difficult it is to replace? Tools needed? I'm going to have to tackle this myself but don't want to rely on just Youtube videos as every application looks different. I have to say, I'm really starting to get aggravated as this trailer was barely used. The previous owners (hull #184) went twice to the rally in Alabama and a few times to their local state park before becoming very ill. The trailer sat for over a year and a half. I'm finding all these annoying issues that shouldn't be there and could have been dealt with under warranty had the owners known or noticed. Everything from the fresh water pick up, to faulty blinds, water intrusion at the upper tail light and front closet, over torqued screw heads, bad regulator, lifting flooring and a leaking fogged bathroom window...and now a blown shock, ugh! I realize other things are regular maintenance as I'm used to those but this is a bit much. 😞0 points
