  1. What is your favorite outdoor camp stove? Mine is NOT compatible with the Oliver's propane, but this is my cooking setup. Snow Peak Iron Grille Table (IGT) with a variety of inserts depending on what we're cooking.

  2. Hi everyone, I just got the fresh jet installed at an RV place. Total cost was $1600. It is indeed very quiet and uses the existing ADC and thermostat and they are going to sell the old penguin for me. They take 10% which is totally reasonable and means I don’t have to haul it back home. It was 108 here and I’ve been outside all afternoon so I won’t do a decibel check just yet but I will at some point. But it works fine and it is indeed very quiet.

  5. Last weekend we went to Art in the Park at Blowing Rock NC as we do every year, but normally it was in May, June, or October in our Aliner pop-up at Julian Price CG on the BRP. This time we decided to try July in our almost 1yr old Elite I (Hull #1209). We caught the peak of the Catawba Rhododendron bloom. We were in the clouds, a good bit of the time but 10-15 degrees cooler than the 90 degrees when we left home in East TN just 90mi, a couple or hours away.

  6. Thanks SeaDawg, we had the same rule in our family. No TV on Sundays, when we drove to visit our cousins and Yiayia (that's Greek for Grandma), or they came to our home. For the first 20+ years of my life, it was every Sunday. Yep, no football, no-way, nor anything else on the TV! We lived in Europe during the 60's and had no TV, no radio really, and we played music on the phonograph and families talked (no cell phones, video games and social media, oh I long for the days). Moved back to the states in the 70s and there was TV! The great TV westerns, Gunsmoke (our favorite), Bonanza, and the great sitcoms of that era. The larger family get-togethers are not with us anymore. I love to wind down, after working a long hard day, get my mind off my responsibilities, watching TV choosing the most brain-dead show I can find, to stop processing and fall asleep. Or watch a great movie, when we can find something new! You really need to delete your TV. Simple rule for organizing a space, if you haven't use it in the last 2 years, throw it out, drop it off at Goodwill. If we meet you at an Oliver owners meet, give me 5 minutes and I'll delete it for you! Lol, best wishes, JD

  8. A very excellent recommendation. Not only will the blocks help with jack travel, and accidental drive-off, but if you're ever in a situation where a jack fails, it's so much easier to wind it up manually if the jack is less extended. Plus, the pad or 2 x 6 chunk spreads the load, under the jack.

  9. We’ve been using the 17” Blackstone when camping for several years. No lid. I do have a cover that fits pretty well. It needs to be covered, not necessarily for varmints but because dust, leaves, twigs, etc will end up on the cooking surface. In areas where bears are present I put the grill in the bed of the truck under the tonneau cover. Other areas I’ve never had an issue with critters getting under, or through, the cover. I just ensure it’s clean after use and we’ve been fine. At home I use a 22” Blackstone (with cover) that sits outside and no issues either.

  14. I'm not sure about the right price: it's what a buyer is willing to pay and a seller is willing to accept. However, I do have a comment about used trailers. Yes, a new-trailer warranty is nice and reassuring. And there is no doubt that Oliver has a solid parts and service team which, in my experience, is very willing to help. However, there is also something to be said for a pre-owned trailer from an owner that has truly used the trailer, conscientiously fixed what needs fixing, improved what needs improving. We bought ours new, but spent more time than I expected troubleshooting and fixing things in the first year. We replaced interior lights (Oliver provided new ones), the inverter (after Xantrex gave up trying to guide me in repairing it), the radio (which Oliver graciously replaced), the table (which cracked apart where mounted in brackets to the wall), and updated battery firmware. We had Oliver repair a few minor fiberglass blemishes and straighten out the rubber strips between body and frame after a year of ownership. In addition, we installed a see-through door window, made and installed mudflats, installed rain gutters over the windows, etc. John has done much, much more to his trailer, and by all reports, has done (and documented) it very, very well. This, in my mind, creates value. My point is this: a new trailer with full warranty is good, but there's also substantial value in a trailer that has been fully road-tested, fixed, upgraded, and is really, truly, "ready-to-use." 15. I’m not familiar with the specs on your short bed Ram 1500. We have that same size Clam and it would not fit in our 5-1/2 foot short bed 2014 GMC Sierra unless it was loaded diagonally. The standard length of our 2017 Silverado 2500 and the 2022 Silverado 3500 bed is 6-1/2 feet and the Clam fits fine placed lengthwise.

  19. Why is it so hard to find low pressure grills and stove? This year We started using the Nomadiq grill. https://www.amazon.com/NOMADIQ-Portable-Lightweight-Tabletop-Tailgating/dp/B08588PLK8/ref=asc_df_B08588PLK8/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416696576536&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=961126175319737280&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003291&hvtargid=pla-900043571940&ref=&adgrpid=92049668097&th=1 It's low pressure out of the box, no regulator built onto the grill itself. It comes supplied with hose and regulator to work off a small Coleman LP bottle. I opted to purchase their adapter hose to allow direct hookup to Ollie. https://www.amazon.com/nomadiQ-Adapter-Hose-Portable-Grill/dp/B09MDJ5M75/ref=pd_bxgy_sccl_2/138-2326693-0637356?pd_rd_w=z118w&content-id=amzn1.sym.26a5c67f-1a30-486b-bb90-b523ad38d5a0&pf_rd_p=26a5c67f-1a30-486b-bb90-b523ad38d5a0&pf_rd_r=ADVPY0FTH99QWGZCH486&pd_rd_wg=t3Oiv&pd_rd_r=82bf38df-5095-4974-9182-eb1158b627de&pd_rd_i=B09MDJ5M75&psc=1 It works great for us, Cooks really well, lightweight and small foot print when folded. When I want to use the cast iron skillet, I have a one burner low pressure stove https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PFL5D3R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that fits the bill.

  23. Brief and incomplete update, because I have to report to duty in 5 minutes: I will definitely let the forum community know what happens. The small brass tip on the regulator that came with my Blackstone came OFF with the propane bottle when I detached it yesterday -- and yes, all the propane left in that bottle escaped. I had to wait for it to settle down and was thankful I had needle-nose type pliers to reach the nut and remove it from the bottle. I'll reach out to Blackstone about that; the brass tip screws into a 'silver' colored metal section and I see no propane tape or anything in that joint; not sure yet if it will go back together and hold the pressure. RATS. So... I'll probably end up buying a cooktop. I brought food to cook that doesn't work on the grill. Glad I have a truck that can handle all this equipment I'm adding. I went to the ND Heritage Museum for much of the day yesterday, plus hit the Costco for fuel and sundries. Thank you for this. I think it's probably worth having this tool, even if I don't plan to 'fix' an issue on my own. Nutshell: they had the trailer 8 hours and didn't definitively confirm the source/s of the leak. They DID confirm there is a leak with a drop test that "held for 7 or 11 or even 20 minutes and then suddenly dropped." More later.

  24. If you'll run those jacks down and take the weight off the suspension as other's have suggested, that side to side wobble will virtually disappear. Always put a block of some kind under the jack rather than running it all the way to the ground. One day you will forget to raise one and drive away. If it is not sitting on top of something that will turn over as you pull out, you will find yourself with a jack that now has a bent lower tube that will not go up. Hope you've got a hack saw with you because at that point, it's your only remedy. Oh, and that'll cost you $400+ to replace. Trust Me.

  30. Truth is, many people join the forum to see classified, when they want to buy, and don't know the impeccable history of "mouse." , because they haven't been long term members. An amazing Ollie. They may buy one of the cheaper, unknown trailers, sans all the great upgrades, not as well maintained, and wonder, gosh, I bought an Ollie, and.... (it leaks, windows are fogged, jacks don't all work, batteries need replaced, etc.) And, or, no solar, no lithium, etc etc. I personally wouldn't hesitate buy yours, and travel cross country for it. And after purchase, tow it anywhere in North America. Well documented. Supetlativly maintained. Go anywhere, and no worries.

  31. John, I am truly sorry the health conditions are forcing the sell of Mouse. You have been a great source of information on this forum. You have imparted and great deal of wisdom and innovations to the Oliver world. To whoever get Mouse, they will get the best maintain Oliver on the market, with a lot of great innovations. I hope you will still stay active on the forums. I think your asking price, is right on. The market is very soft right now with the being flood of stick built trailers, the inflation, and unsure economy, I think people are a little gun shy. You and your wife will be in my prayers.

  33. @SeaDawg thank you -- I decided on the Blackstone, all things considered, and after all my research, I feel sure I'll be very happy with it. Though I love cooking and do bring my own carbon steel, cast iron, Futura pressure cooker, etc, I can see advantages in simply cooking directly on a griddle much of the time. I can't wait, because it will be moving all that heat and grease splatter out of my Oliver! And part of the beauty of the Blackstone is double-duty during powerless hurricanes and other emergencies.... I also ordered the conversion kit from propanegear.com (hat tip to Oliver Owners Forum for the BEST information and links!) -- those people were very helpful and I'll have it by next week. Campstoves -- I have my favorite backpacking stove (Trangia) that I kept from my cross-country bike-camping days. For Hurricane Ian I bought fuel for it. Regards Hurricane Ian, thanks for the kind words -- I feel pretty darned lucky, actually. Many friends are still homeless, and lost everything. Many households have taken in family and friends. We must be in the same general vicinity. Thanks everyone!

  34. I searched extensively to find a quality propane grill with dual burners and separate controls. I selected a Napoleon TravelQ TQ285 Grill. This grill is currently $295 on Amazon (vs. $319 direct from Napoleon). I managed to catch a sale for $250 on Amazon. This grill has a clamshell style body with porcelain coating and weighs just under 30 pounds. I also purchased a PORTAL Outdoor Folding Portable Picnic Camping Table to serve as a stand for the grill. The table was $80, but now listed on Amazon for $72. Compact size was a critical selection criteria for both the grill and table, since I needed them to fit in a rear mounted cargo carrier. Our tow vehicle is not a pickup truck, but a BMW X5. I did not want to carry the grill within the TV. Upon receipt of the grill, I modified the fuel feed to enable use of quick connect fittings for use with the low pressure propane connections on our LEII. I also purchased a DOZYANT 18 feet Low Pressure Propane Quick-Connect Hose, $25 from Amazon. Below is a photo showing connection for both high and low pressure propane supplies. The high pressure connection is on the right with a 1 lb. fuel container attached. The low pressure quick connector is located to the lower left of the regulator. The red handled valves control selection of the desired propane source. The grill is shown with its folding legs extended. This setup has proven quite satisfactory. The grill easily reaches any temperature you would reasonably need for cooking. The grates are cast iron. There is also a griddle available for one side, which we have not purchased. This grill lives in our rear mounted carrier, with a Champion Dual Fuel generator (also configured to use the low pressure propane connections on our LEII). See the packing arrangement below, including stabilizer bases, chocks, etc.. P Prior to using the grill, I line the interior with aluminum foil. The grill comes with a grease catch pan under the center, which I also line with foil. The aluminum foil is easily discarded after use. I scrub the grates with a grill brush and wipe them with paper towels. I also wipe out the grill interior to remove any grease prior to storing the grill back in the cargo carrier. We don't notice any odors from the grill following this procedure. I highly recommend this grill. Don

  35. We picked up a Weber Traveler a few months back and have been very happy with it. Only downsides I've found so far is that the newer models are a real PITA to convert over to a quick connect and that it only has one burner control. Gets to 600 deg fairly quick which is something that my Weber Genesis has a hard time achieving.

  36. We got the Weber Traveler that was offered by Oliver at the time of purchase last month. It's extremely portable and folds up into position in seconds. I also bought the griddle plate for one side to allow making pancakes or anything else that would fall through the grate. This makes the Traveler even more camp friendly. 42. Note that the larger CLAM's such as the one in Katjo's video above will not fit in the closet of the Ollie. They must be stored either in the tow vehicle or someplace else in the Oliver (i.e. the aisle, the bath, the bed, etc.) The smaller version like THIS one will fit inside the Oliver closet (folded up of course). 46. LevelMate "For trailer leveling, I use the LevelMate Pro by LogicBlue. I purchased it and had Oliver install it for me on delivery day in the closet because I was not confident that the attaching screws would be too long and pierce the visible side of the fiberglass. This system works like a charm, and I have verified its accuracy using a 4' level.“ I use a Levelmate Pro also. I was worried about the screws inside the closet so I used vhb tape. Occasionally I check with bubble level, it’s still stuck in place.
