  2. Bravo @NandNPNW for installing this without drilling mounting holes! This is great. The Ace Hardware product is likely good, I loved Ace in the day, back in Chicagoland, where Ace started! Next time, or if your install loosens up, go with 3M 4950 VHB tape. Instead of 12 LB you get 80 LB / SQ IN, so you could lean on the counter fully extended to get off the floor, been there Ha-Ha. This product is amazing! I'm an engineer and over-engineer about everything! I used to bolt down everything, but not anymore. I used this product to mount 2 large heavy solar panels on a fiberglass roof with only 20 SQ IN of tape each. This is an amazing product! 3. We did this mod without knowing it was already posted! Our exception was utilizing 12lb double sided tape and black 10" locking drawer slides. The tape (from local ACE Hardware) was the thinnest we could find in the weight capacity I was looking for. It's installed on both the slide base and the bottom of the countertop. I was concerned about it floating too high above the base but it closes up nicely and is not noticeable. Not concerned about pulling them off as all the force is lateral and not expecting any weight bearing for the tabletop once slid out. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GJMLDPL?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

  4. Hello! I'm still here in Jackson. I sent you a PM -- you are welcome to come see my Oliver E2. Call me asap because I'm only here for another week. I sent you my phone number, the best way to reach me while I'm not on wifi. I hope we can connect -- seeing one in person is the best way to make your decision.

  5. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park on Campobello in July. What really struck me about the Roosevelt's home was the unpretentiousness of it. It looked like a place anyone could be very comfortable in. I want to go back and walk more of the trails. David really liked the golf course. Paula

  7. There aren't very many OEII’s that will have a tongue weight below 600 pounds. Most will range from 625-675. Some will go over 700 pounds. If you are a diehard minimalist you can probably squeeze by with that vehicle. Otherwise, you’re gonna want a real truck to really enjoy your travels without constantly worrying about being on the edge. Many of us are using 3/4 or 1 ton turbo diesel trucks to tow with and those of us in that camp have all moved up from smaller, more marginal vehicles.

  8. And - this is why in at least one video by Jason Essary (Service Manager) he recommends that owners disconnect this plug from the tow vehicle when stopped for over a few hours. This is due to the fact that even while the tow vehicle is shut off the Oliver batteries can still draw power from the tow vehicle and, therefore deplete the tow vehicle battery. Bill

  9. Please post your trailer information, year and model. Also add your electrical systems info (inverter model, batteries, etc.). When on shore power, does your refrigerator work when AC power is selected? The fridge circuit is direct to a breaker (no GFCI), so if it does maybe your GFCI has failed.

  10. We got our LE2 with the bike rack mount and realized we will probably always carry our folding Ebikes in the back of the truck under cover. With that understanding we decided to add a cargo tray and locking box for general items needed for setup, and camp site necessities. Obviously weight is a critical factor so with the tray, box and gear inside we are shooting for less than 200# total. I'm sure we have succeeded after adding up the weigh of all items. The most difficult part is making the extended rails for the tray to mount on. I used the same T6061 aluminum that Oliver uses on their frame members. It's available in small sizes at local metal supply houses such as Metal Supermarket. The aluminum tubing drills and cuts easily with carbide woodworking tools. Use a little lite oil on the blade to keep the aluminum from fowling the blade. You must use good eye protection when cutting. I copied the way the bike rack rails were machined. Here's the results of the project: We have pulled the camper a couple times for local camp outs and the weight of the addition is completely unnoticeable while towing. The box is well made but light weight with locking double latch system. It has a double layer of aluminum in the lid and is foam filled to keep the contents from heating up too much in direct sun. The whole thing is very sturdy and at 220 pounds I can stand on the box lid to see the top of the camper with no effect to the box lid. Good traction and very solid. The softener tank is mounted with a tank wall mount and strap and is set up with quick connects and the standard hoses hook up in just a minute. The softener comes with a regeneration kit and it takes about an hour to perform a regeneration using a box of table salt. It will last up to 2000 gallons of water depending on the mineral content. No need to remove the tank for regeneration, just connect the kit to the external QD fittings and run the process. When done, you are good to go for a few more camping trips. No more hard water scale or rust on pluming fixtures. Remove the tank for winter storage inside the garage. I'm very pleased with the overall project. The box can be removed just as the bike mount is removed for spare tire access. You can actually access the spare without completely removing the tray assembly, Just slide it out about 6-8 inches and the cover and tire are removeable. I bought a self lit license frame and mounted to the back of the tray. I added a plug connection to the license light wire to power the new license plate light. I wanted a removable connection for obvious reasons. The connection is mounted on the lower part of the spare tire cover under the original license bracket. The old license plate bracket is still useable if the tray and box are removed. 11. I got this idea from a social media posting, but here's a quick mod that makes the "secret compartment" below the Pantry easier to access: 1. Pulled off VELCRO from cabinet. 2. Installed a couple 8" drawer slides from Amazon: 3. Replaced the VELCRO onto the drawer slides: 4. One and done, can't even tell the difference; except for the convenience factor - time for a cold one. Cheers! A & D

  15. I also have a composting toilet. I needed 2 gallons. Don't forget to winterize the black water flush valve (even though you aren't using the black tank, I was told that it still needs to be winterized.) There is a video on Oliver website about winterizing the Truma Aqua-Go. Be sure to review that first.

  16. Thanks for article @John E Davies. I'm pretty sure my wheel brush is stainless steel, certainly not low carbon, since I've had it for 30 years and it's likely well over 40 years old (bought many of my tools at estate sales). Never any rust on it! Found something similar, there is a 6" Osborn Knot Wire Cup Brush on Zoro: Osborn Knot Wire Cup Brush, 6", 0003303000 0003303000 | Zoro This item is still made in USA, many others here Mexico. These ads do not spec type of steel. There is the compression disc on the underside, bolt welded to it, with rust on that part only. Glad to read that I didn't mess them up. The first wheel I cleaned 10 days ago still looks great! No, not painting, not refinishing the fronts at all! Just cleaning the backsides (rust/dust from brake pads) and wet-sanded by hand where the tire beads contact for a good seal. Also, cleaning the bolt holes and gently the valve stem recesses. They are not perfect, but you can see from the pics on page one, they're really nice as is. Not building a show car, but a truck that will see a lot of dirt/gravel roads - they will look great! What a beast of an old tool, mounted to an old Milwaukee 7" hand grinder that weighs a over 10 lbs. mounted!

  17. I looked through their website. Interesting manufacturing process, and certainly lightweight for size. Sadly, each and every floorplan listed eliminates the possibility for a big rear window, which I would really miss. I also dislike being able to see the honeycomb pattern of the plastic sheets in the photos. But, a number ofvthe floorplans would be great for a small family, and a smaller tow vehicle. Their dealer network is apparently one company, with several locations. One is about an hour and a half from me, and if I'm out that way for another reason, (there's a great old time Florida seafood restaurant that we like, not far away, and a seafood market that sells walleye in Hudson, itself), I'm curious enough to drop in and check it out. That location has three models in stock.

  21. Since last week, I now have two wheels clean! It's a lot of heavy work with the heavy grinder and I like to space out the really physical jobs to only a few hours a day. There are other chores. Just received my brake upgrade! Going to 17" wheels allows me to upgrade brakes, from Dodge 2nd Gen to 3rd Gen brakes. The rotors are 1" larger diameter and thicker material. Parts include a pair of wider caliper brackets and upgraded EBC rotors and pads. It's amazing, but the calipers are the same, as they are HD already. Purchased all parts at Summit: EBC Brakes S1KF1502 EBC Stage 1 Premium Street Disc Brake Kits | Summit Racing Check the pic below! This must be a 60% increase in brake contact area for my truck. What an amazing product! You guys with newer trucks, install EBC pads and rotors on your next brake job. Didn't want drilled or slotted rotors or anything. These look great, just dark and huge!

  22. If you're on shore power, have the 2 power connectors outside (left side body and right side by the propane tanks), and the transfer switch doesn't click/microwave doesn't beep when you plug in, can your cord reach the other power connector?

  23. We were there almost this same week, maybe a week earlier. Some of the dahlias were dinner plate size. I'll never forget that. So very beautiful. The wind at night was cold, but the days were cool and bright, and totally awesome. Wishing you safe travels, and thanks for the memories. Where to next? On that trip (we called it the tides trip) we saw the maelstrom /whirlpool off deer point, the river running backwards at st. John, and the crazy tide at Hopewell rocks. The trip home, with the leaves, was really amazing. We followed the leaf change south. Envying you now. Enjoy the beauty!

  25. As long as the Dill will alarm even if the app isn’t being displayed on your phone. I have the separate TST monitor but don’t look at it much after we’re under way. If something is wrong it will alarm, otherwise I pretty much ignore it. The Dill sounds pretty nice, will be interested in how you like it. Mike

  27. As far as I know - OTT only stopped doing this for those trailers equipped with lithium batteries. Bill

  28. Actually they are called "scupper" holes or drains. These serve a couple of purposes: 1 - they "vent" the area between the inner and outer hulls. Any condensation that might form between the inner and outer hulls will either drain or be evaporated due to increased air movement from these. Actually when you are driving down the road these cause a "venturi" effect which actually draws air/moisture out from the hulls. 2 - they allow for the draining of any "leaks" that might occur. In turn, this reduces the chances of mold or mildew that might be caused by any water collected within the inner and outer hulls. If you ever actually see any liquid draining from these scuppers, it would be advisable to search for the cause of that as soon as possible. Bill

  29. On older Oliver trailers with lead acid batteries (before the lithium battery option availability) the black wire on the trailer 7 pin harness is the charge wire for the batteries and it IS a direct connection to the positive side of the battery bank (through a 20 amp in-line breaker, see wiring diagram). So that wire/pin on the 7 pin trailer plug connector is energized with 12 volts from the trailer batteries, and that connection allows the trailer batteries to be charged from the tow vehicle while driving. And it is per the SAE standard. It worked with the old Olivers like mine with lead acid wet cell batteries because the tow vehicle alternator charging voltage was sufficient for lead acid batteries, but not with lithium batteries, so Oliver now disconnects that wire on newer trailers with lithium batteries.

  30. The first picture is from the 2017 Oliver LEII manual and the second is from etrailer.com. Both indicate that the black wire is the hot/charge wire. Mossey

  31. It appears that 12VDC is back-feeding from the battery out to the plug. Getting shocked there would mean you'd also have to be touching the ground wire, the frame or the basket as well. @mossemi Check one of your wiring diagrams and see if the black wire from the 7-pin doesn't run directed to the battery. It probably does not currently, but I think it did in some of the earlier builds.

  35. We’ve been traveling from south Texas to Tennessee and arrived in the Memphis area this afternoon. We’re at a military campground on Midsouth Naval Base just north of Memphis. It’s small, but somehow there’s an Oliver parked right next to us. The spot we are in was occupied by another Oliver last night. Small world. Our neighbors just picked up their trailer yesterday, Mike and Barb - Hull 1428.

  36. I've been banned from shopping at one of out local Walmart's here in town. About 6 months ago I was in Walmart buying a large bag of Purina dog food for my beautiful Doberman, Reacher, which weighed 110 lbs. I was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. I wondered what she thought I had. So, because I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse, I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I explained to her that it was the Perfect Diet. Dog food is nutritionally complete and contains all the nutrients, protein, vitamins and minerals to adequately sustain a large carnivore for a lifetime. I added that the last time, it had worked really well and that I'd lost 50 pounds. Since I had gained back some weight lately, I had decided to give it another go. I told her the way that it works is, to load your jacket pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. Further, I told her that I knew I probably shouldn't do this, because the last time, I ended up in the hospital. I explained that I had awakened in the intensive care unit with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IV's in both arms. (I need to mention here that practically everyone in the checkout line was now enthralled with my story.) Horrified, she asked if I had ended up in intensive care, because the dog food had poisoned me. I told her no, I had stopped to pee on a Fire Hydrant and a car hit me.

  37. Well - I don't know. Since this list was being compiled from recommendations submitted by Oliver Owners and primarily submission was via the Forum I really don't see that many recommendations when scanning the thread. It should be a fairly simple matter to simply copy these names down if you're interested. Good luck! Bill
