  1. The 5th Annual Mini-Rally was held at the Shore Hills Campground in Boothbay Maine from June 2 to June 8, 2025. The weather was sunny for 5 days with occasional showers on 2 days. The event included a pot luck supper and door prize raffle, golfing match, cornhole match, presentations by CGI and the local Oliver sales and service center, Tim's RV and a catered lobster bake/barbecue chicken dinner to end the mini-rally. Below is some pictures taken during the event. 3. A cool teaser Mike, that clip is also on the Oliver FB page. I learned yesterday from Oliver Service, the new tilt out or “awning style’ windows are manufactured by Lippert, and are tinted bonded/insulated glass. The really good news according to service is the new style windows will allow for a retrofit on existing Olivers. Pricing has yet to be determined. They are really sharp looking for sure!

  4. Our older Ollies have absorption based refrigerator systems. They have an open flame burner that drives the refrigeration process. If the system has a combustion issue, it will generate CO. If you have critters flying into the cabin via the refer vents, your box is no longer sealed properly. That could for sure put you and others at risk. Seriously recommend you: Replace your CO/Propane Detector if there is any doubt about it's age or in our case with these type of refrigerators if the detector is over 4 years old. Reseal the combustion area from the cabin area. Most of us use Foil Tape. Buy 3M foil tape. GJ

  5. Quick Update: I received a reply email from Barker Manufacturing and then spoke on the phone in response to my email to them that included photos. They are going to send me a new tube sleeve with the proper weld at no charge. I will need to take the existing jack out and loosen the three set screws on the head. I'm told this will allow me to replace the steel tube (where the bracket is welded) on the existing jack and then reinstall so that it will be at the proper height. Happy that a resolution/fix is now hopefully in process...

  6. @Lori L yes check those John Guest fittings, we had a loose one. Make sure the pex tubing is securely into the John Guest fitting until it stops, and then twist the locking nut to secure it in place. These locking nuts can come loose.

  7. If none of the above works - check for leaks - any water connection (simply wipe your dry hand around each connection you can reach and look to see if there is any sign of water). This also applies to that filter that Patriot mentions in the first reply above. Finally - re-check that valve configuration just to make absolutely sure that it is correct and that the valves are fully in the correct positions. Good luck! Bill

  9. Lori, Have you checked your inline water filter which is right down to the left of your pump? Sometimes this filter can get clogged with left over plastic particles from when the fresh water tank is drilled and prepped for plumbing at the factory. You can unscrew that filter and take a look to see if there is any plastic particles in it. We had a little bit of the plastic bits in our filter discovered during our initial shake down. You do not have to manually prime the pump to get it to operate properly. What year and Hull # is your Oliver? Please list this in your signature area under your profile. This is good information to help members assist you with questions you may have. You may need to replace your water pump, these can fail. Keep us posted on your progress, others will hopefully chime in with additional troubleshooting thoughts. Patriot🇺🇸

  10. I love my wife Chris, and as each year goes by it becomes ever more so apparent! We purchased our Oliver just days short of a year ago and we love being together in our travels, no matter where we camp for the night, good or bad. I share this thought today with my virtual Oliver family. I do my things and she does hers and the best things are the times we spend together. She often asks, “How’s the blog going?” She’s referring to this forum and she is always interested. I tell her stories regarding y’alls antics, often over a drink or two before dinner. She listens and smiles, what a smile. Today is a very special day for us, as it is our 30th wedding anniversary! I have a difficult job every year from June 1st to June 7th. Her birthday being the latter date. Last year, as you can see, it was easy as can be, as to her surprise I brought home an Oliver! 😊 What in the world can I do this year! Good thing we do not need to top the great times we’ve had and will always have together. I write this for my partner in life. Love you, Chrissy.

  12. To finish up my post ... I did replace the the VIP 3000 with a new VIP 3000 from Barker. I would have gone with the 3500 but it has a 2 1/2 inch diameter and the 3000 has a 2 inch diameter. The Oliver has 2 thick aluminum plates with 2 inch holes and so the 3500 won't fit unless you enlarge those 2 inch holes to 2 1/2. I didn't have the tools or knowhow to tackle that job. The new jack works fine and I'm a happy camper again. Kudos to Barker as they gave me $50 off the price in spite of being out of warranty. John

  14. Thanks for this Patriot. I've been wanting to add front and rear porch lights. I'll buy two of these for this purpose. A front porch light for unhitching if we get somewhere late or need something out of the back of the truck at night. I'll want switch outside next to the jack switches and will have to figure out how to get wiring between the hulls to the new light. The switch below the doghouse will be easy. I want a rear porch light too since there is no light pointing that direction. I'll likely use the "Rear Camera" switch for that since we don't use the camera and it seems odd to have a switch for that purpose anyway. The rear will be an easy installation since there is already switched power for the rear camera to use. With these lights, mounting two new lights at the same height (measure up from hull seam), we'd have 6 lights separately switch in the 4 directions and the install would look OEM. I agree with your idea of lighting up the place with individually switched porch lights for safety needs. We don't use the porch lights unless we want the light to extend outwards. Happy our hull has separate Entry and Porch light switches. Our older hull also has the older dim Courtesy lights which I noted at the Texas Rally, our neighbors Courtesy lights were easily twice as bright. If not, I would do what @Ollie-Haus has done with Z-brackets. Beautiful work, smoothly cut with radius corners, nicely painted, excellent! 😂

  16. Nice. In a previous camper we had windows that could be opened while it was raining, they were very nice, but I like the glass windows Oliver is using even better. Believe some of our windows in #75 might be a different size than late model Ollies, but really like the looks of the new windows.

  20. You can get smooth white Kytex sheet from McMaster Carr and cut it and bend it with a heat gun and some wood blocks into a Z shape and attach to the side of the fiberglass with clear double sided silicone tape. I did this to the curb lights on our Oliver to redirect the curb lights straight down. For that I used some extruded aluminum Z channel, cut to 5" long, painted white and attached with the same double sided tape. I couldn't find aluminum Z channel big enough for the porch lights. The attached pictures illustrate the concept. Kydex: https://www.mcmaster.com/8650K12-8650K123/ Aluminum "Z": https://www.mcmaster.com/7062T32-7062T323/

  21. There is always fresh air coming into the Oliver due to the "scupper holes" in the bottom. Therefore, it all depends on how much fresh air do you want. One of the first things I always do when setting up my Ollie is to open the bath roof vent. Then, depending on temps, humidity, precip, etc., I open other windows/Max Air fan (or not). Bill

  24. Yes, there was just a thread on the wiring of the jack switch (link below). And these switches go bad regularly. What you described is very likely a switch that needs replacing. Also, everybody should carry a simple spade jumper like pictured below. The Oliver has many toggle switches installed and this simple jumper can be used as a temporary override. I had a brake pedal switch go bad on a Class-C which would not allow me to move the auto trans gear selector out of park. We were stuck right were we had parked. I used a jumper like this to bypass the switch which allowed us to drive an hour or two into the next town to get this common replacement switch at Napa. They also would likely have a replacement toggle switch for the jack. Nice little tool to have handy. I made one when we had the brake switch failure and have carried it with ever since. Used it once when the Oliver had a bad water pump switch under the pantry which allowed the switch under the bath vanity to work.

  28. Lori: While you are down there, check that the power is still firmly connected to the pump. We seem to have more than a few owners with loose power plugin's this year. I believe that if you see the LED "i am on" light at both the bathroom and above the stove area, then you have power going to the pump. But if that plug is vibrated a bit loose the pump may run and then not run depending on what mood the connector is in at that moment. If it is not firm, pull it apart and for grins check for any corrosion. A small nail file has helped me out in the past. Geronimo John

  29. Try letting the hot and cold water run for a while. Sometimes when switching from city water to pump we get air in the lines with the same symptoms: faint pump noise and very little flow. If we let both the hot and cold run a bit, usually via the outside shower, it clears up.

  31. A little different point of view here from our field experience. While on lengthy 42 and 48 day trips out west in the last two years we really appreciated the outward strong light pattern that both the porch and courtesy lights throw out. In the high desert there is plenty of rattle snake activity and other savaging critters hanging around campsites. Same applies here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. From a security point of view we like the super bright courtesy and porch lighting. A huge plus if an unknown person decides to knock on our camper door at night. These lights really do an amazing job. We like bright lights where we need it when we want it. 👍🏻 All this said, we use our lights very conservatively and do not leave them on all night resulting in unhappy camping neighbors. There are trade offs for sure! Let there be light!! 😊

  33. OK folks, (TLDR - Stained window seals? Soak overnight in Dawn & Bleach water.) Now that I’ve got that whiny rant out of my system, I’ve come up with a solution that saves $100 and gives me some satisfaction. I had pulled the window seals out of all four windows last season or so, scrubbed them with a toothbrush and Comet, gave them an hour soak in bleach water, and got them somewhat clean. I even moved two of them to opposite side of the trailer so I could install them “upside down” so that the more visible part was clean. They hadn’t come completely clean, but were a lot less unsightly. As I mentioned before, because I scrubbed (abraded) them, I figured they wouldn’t come as clean a second time. I’m thrilled to report that I was wrong! I pulled them off again yesterday. Coiled them up in the bottom of a plastic bucket. I put a cup of household bleach and a generous squirt of Dawn dishwashing liquid, and sprayed about a gallon of water in the bucket. I let them soak overnight. This morning I was pleasantly surprised to find that they came even cleaner than the first time! There’s just a mere hind of a shadow of the old stain on just one small part of one seal. I would pronounce (nearly) “as good as new”! I plan to coat/seal them with the same treatment I’ve used in the nose of the trailer to make bugs release easier. So - for little more sweat equity than it would take to cut and install new ones - and $100 less - I have window seals I’m quite happy with.

  34. I'm with you... as long as they are DIY, made of glass and open far enough to make me happy. My windows are already getting "the fog" and I'd rather put the money to repair them towards these new windows if the satisfy my needs.

  35. Just me but my only interest is the new windows. I know most of you prefer the current sliding windows, I do not like these windows at all - leaks, shrinking window seal/gaskets, side window tracks on the newer models cannot be removed to clean out the tracks/weep holes (yes I know there’s a thread on how to clean them)…I just never had RV windows before requiring so much maintenance! So if the new windows are dual pane with black out shades, can tilt out fully and by some miracle will fit our current window openings, then yes I will take out a second mortgage to go that route!

  36. This happened to me several times the first year I had the trailer until I added a filter behind the air inlet grate in the aisleway. Fine lint was being ingested through the inlet vent and wrapping around the sail switch which finally made the sail switch stick. I removed the switch from the outside and removed the spun on lint and it worked fine for a while. I did that 3 or 4 times. It finally needed to be replaced so I did and got a backup switch as well. Now 2 years later I've not had to bother with it although I check to make sure lint is not accumulating again. The filter did the trick for me. We full time so the furnace gets used plenty. The furnace will not light unless the fan blows the sail switch to a position for a determinate amount of time and then allow propane to pass for ignition. The fan just blew cold and then shut down and made me think I was out of propane :) Good luck, John

  37. Close your screen while standing inside and look at the top curve in the screen door meets the frame. Keep the actual door open as you will not be able to see the gap with the actual windowed door closed. You will clearly see a gap where the door does not meet the frame for the screen door. I think it is just a side effect of the frame being mounted to the curve surface of the trailer. I would not try to bend the screen door to match as I think it would collapse the thin door frame. Simple enough to just add the furry seal. I looked at several different year models while at the rally, including the two 2025 ones on display and the all had the same gap. Hope that helps.

  38. Ah yes, a bummer for the new owners if it’s the partial tilt out windows, I just assumed it would be the fully tilt out windows! A good reminder what someone once told me, assumption is the mother of all screw ups!

  41. Tim - The RUMOR that I've heard is that Oliver is changing windows for the 2026 models. The information that you cite about the closing of the plant and the "wonderful" service you obtained from Lippert just may explain why/how this RUMOR started. I believe that it is still too early to know if this RUMOR is true or not given we are still only about 1/2 way through the 2025 model year. Bill

  45. Yeah, opening the cylinder valve too fast can trigger a safety feature inside the tank; specifically an ‘excess flow valve’, at least as best I understand it.

  46. Ours is original and black. It’s also about an inch short at each window. I keep the gap on the upper part of the window. I’d replace them but the rubber is still good and the gap doesn’t seem to be an issue. Mike

  47. To John & Chris, and all those above and those that will follow, I LIKE THIS THREAD. We are into 44, albeit more of an equation, it is still a good solid 44. What we have discovered and experienced over that last 3 & 11/12’s years of OTT ownership is, when camping in ‘SNY SD UP’ or travelling in the TV and being in such close proximity of each other for weeks & months is, we are on our best behavior and more tolerant of each other's individual quirks. By that I mean, ‘where would one go if you need some alone time’, not in the TV, not in the TT, so, we accept that and enjoy all the new adventures, adversities, breakdowns (a work in progress) and the Uff da’s together. For us to be able to ‘Go Camping’ just brings out the best in each of us, and we like that. We have learned to enjoy being within 6’ of each other day & night and the wonderment of it all that brings us TOGETHER. B~Out,

  49. My wife (Sue) and I only have just short of 20 years on you two. I have some of the same "problem" as you in that our anniversary is on November 30, her birthday is on December 9th and then we celebrate Christmas. Sure does take some "creative" gift thinking. However, I've never even thought about bringing home a "new" Oliver and since there is absolutely nothing wrong with the old Oliver, I'm guessing that it will stay that way. Frankly, as you seem to know, it really isn't the gift as much as it is the thought that is behind the gift. Happy anniversary to you both! Enjoy every minute of it AND the great years to come! Bill

  50. OTT is sending us a replacement TV under warranty. We'll travel with the TV in the down position from now on. Our last fifth wheel had a TV mounted in the viewing position without problem for years. I think the TV mount points are designed for a shear force rather than a hanging force.
