  1. Oliver has a few videos on this topic including caulk recommendations in the Knowledge Base. Check to be sure the problem is not just clogged window tracks.

  2. One is silver, and the others gold... We sang it by the campfire, as kids, and it's just as true today. I spoke today with a camping friend that I taught with many, many years ago. (Not telling.,) She's at a rally that she's been attending for probably a decade. Fun with old friends and new. Past summer, she created an informal "camping experience " with her senior band friends. We've made cherished friends within the Ollie circle, and other friends around the world, camping, in our Ollie, and rentals/ deliveries. Tonight, in my conversation with my friend, I was struck by how much our life has been enriched by our camping (and sailing/cruising) experiences. That song I learned in Brownie camp is just so true. Some people I cherish today, though I've never met them in person. Others, that I've camped with are cherished in another special way. Life can be so good, when we get out there, and open our hearts to adventure, and new friends. I do so love the woods, thevbeauty of nature, the adventure, and all the opportunities. Camping season, for us, this year, is drawing to a close. Maybe a few short trips, but other adventures await.

  3. I had a similar problem with only two of my batteries charging. The blue power light should blink if they are charging. For me the solution was to return the battery to Lithionics and they recalibrated the BMS. Lithionics was very responsive. They sent shipping box and I had the recalibrated battery back in a little over a week.

  6. I did use the same hardware except I replaced the rod with one a couple of inches longer to compensate for the angle and I removed the shelf to work on it. That way you can turn it upside down. That will possibly make removing the screws somewhat easier rather than having to work from beneath reaching up.

  7. Is there an issue with the caulking around your windows? If it is a 2021 I wouldn’t think that the caulk would be old. Any leaks? Our 2016 Oliver is going on 7 years old and the caulk around the windows is original, no leaks, no issues. Mike

  8. @Cameron, you won't ruin your Ollie. We've driven the entirety of the brp, and many parts ,many times. Come east and enjoy our beautiful country here, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's the sunblocker fifth wheels who may have issues. Another beautiful thing about owning an Ollie. To ease your mind: https://www.blueridgeparkway.org/tunnels/ https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/tunnel-heights.htm#:~:text=Low Clearance, while staying in your lane. It is good to check ahead. Every year, at various times, there are closures for repairs. But, you can get on and off the bpr, and the Shenandoah, to access local highways. Enjoy the ride. Its amazing. Our camping property is 20 minutes each way from two entrances to the brp. It's a lovely drive, and we'll sometimes just hop on for a stretch to see what's going on, in various seasons. I feel blessed.

  9. Fritz, that lone tree and the big Carolina deep blue sky is amazing. Thanks. I wondered what it would look like in b/w. Totally different mood. Much more stark. And lonely. Love your photo.

  10. George, I've been pondering your issues today, and I am wondering if all of this may be related back to the problem you had back in July when your batteries were all at zero, and you only had shore power. We never did hear why the batteries didn't charge on shore power. Just assumed you had turned them off accidentally. Now, I think you probably ran the batteries to "zero" at some point previously, and the bms turned them off to keep the small reserve and save your batteries from harm. At this point, I'm "guessing", and you will probably know, that your batteries have not all three ever been brought back to 100 per cent since then, so you could have a couple issues. First, your state of charge likely won't show accurately until all three batteries have attained 100 per cent, and the monitoring system "resets." (This isn't just lithionics. It's pretty much all lithium systems that I've used or read about.) The second is, every big lithium battery is a whole bunch of smaller cells, making up a bigger capacity battery. Those cells can vary slightly, and won't rebalance till the battery has reached 100 per cent, and stayed there for awhile. Til then you won't get full battery capacity. If you have a bad cell, you never will, but you're under warranty... An acquaintance with victron had to charge each battery separately, for example, to rebalance after running to zero, as I recall, but that's different gear, and I wouldn't recommend it for your system without speaking to Oliver first, and then Lithionics if you are referred there. Every manufacturer has particular practices that they recommend, based on their design and chemistry. I'm wondering also if your charging profile is set correctly. Balancing only happens in absorption, I think, for most. Perhaps that threshold isn't high enough on your xantrex. Ask Jason to run through the settings with you. I know this has been frustrating for you. At this point, I'd open a service ticket, talk through everything with Jason, (including your past issues) and hopefully it's just something small-- like changing a setting, or leaving the trailer plugged in and charging long enough without other loads like ac, to get accurate per centage of charge readings. It's important to remember that lithiums don't behave like lead acid or even flashlight batteries, where voltage tells the story, and lights dim, etc., as stored amp hours run down, but the flashlight or overhead lights still work, just dim. With lithium, it's pretty much linear. Everything works at the same voltage, but when you're out of stored energy, it drops off a cliff, and you have nothing, and the bms shuts you down, which may be what happened to you in July. So a voltage reading from lithiums tells you pretty much nothing, til they're depleted. (Although lithionics, I'm certain, retains a small per centage in the battery, but shows zero, and shuts down. All the majors do.) The bms depends on algorithms and power in/power out to give you state of charge readings. Hang in there. You and Jason will get it straight, I'm sure, so that you can enjoy your lithium system as you should. Best of luck.

  11. I am fairly sure that is a piece of a cabin drawer slide. It is the same gauge and color.... . I don't know if Oliver trims any material off one end. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you just want to be reassured, in that case you can open a service ticket and ask. https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/6734-how-to-drawers-remove-and-reinstall-your-galley-and-end-table-drawers-fix-loose-or-stripped-screws-and-glue-the-bottoms-for-extra-strength/ I hope you did not step on it with bare feet.... 12. Yes cleaning the window track was the first thing I did. It hasn't rained hard since then but there are some places that the caulking seems a little sketchy. I'm figuring better to be on the safe side and reapply silicone or whatever I'm supposed to use.

  14. The larger window at the dinette table on my Oliver le1 leaked recently when it rained really hard. I see some of the caulking on the roof or around the window could be the problem. I'm thinking if I just replace whatever looks questionable should hopefully fix the problem.

  15. I bought two of the dimmers you linked to and swapped them for the Porch Light and the Outside Courtesy Light switches. The dimmer switch requires a ground wire. When I pulled the panel out I found that each switch had its own ground wire. For the time being I am using a couple of brass washers on the front panel for the switch nut to tighten against. The dimmers do a great job dimming the outside lights.

  17. I had a similar question posted earlier. I found the same behavior - one battery (the on closest to the inverter) draws down more quickly than others. I thought the BMS systems would balance during discharge but apparently not. Balancing only occurs at nearly 100% SOC according to others on the forum and Lithionics manual.

  18. Last week before we picked up it was suggested that a "Where's Ollie" thread might be good for folks to post pictures of where they've been, maybe with a few comments about the location. I'll get it going.... This is Hillman Ferry State Park in KY at Land Between the Lakes. Nice campground, with lots of lake water activities. You can get a site right on the lake to fish from!

  19. I realize I might be an odd duck, but I can't say enough about this national monument. It's strange but I love it. There are about 50 campsites, first come first serve. No reservations. I pulled in today at 11:30 and had my pick of almost any site. Some too small for the Ollie but most are plenty big. There are nice flush toilets nearby and water faucets spaced throughout. Most sites aren't too close together.

  20. Following is from Lithionics FAQ that Seadawg sent yesterday. It confirms her statements above. “-Explanation: *every two weeks, a full charge cycle in which the battery reaches 14.4 volts is required to trigger a recalibration of the internal Hall Effect Sensor shunt. When the battery exceeds 14.2 volts during charging, the SoC re-sets to 100%. (In order to fully charge a lithium ion battery, the DC loads may need to be reduced so the charge current exceeds the discharge current to allow a full battery charge.)”

  21. Thank you John. I expect that you are correct. We haven't found anything not working properly and it has been several months since we found it. Not even sure where I found it other than inside at this point.

  22. Before removing the caulking, I would suggest that you check the drain holes at the bottom of the window track to make sure they are clear and allowing the water that hits the window glass to drain out of the window track.

  25. We’ve made some great Oliver friends over the years. Real friends. It’s fun to see them at various places across the country and renew connections. We like to camp year round. We were in Colorado in June and July. We’ll be out the month of October and then the month of January. It’s a good pace, home a couple of months, out a month or two, repeat. Mike

  26. Are the second and third battery turned on? No changes, to me,,would indicate offline, either by switch, or wiring. Have you ever run the batteries to 100 per cent charge?

  27. Thanks! Yes, still in NC, but not far from music center in Va on the BRP. That’s what we like about camping on the BRP, if you don’t go hiking, a drive on the BRP always works. There’s a a detour around a bridge on the BRP at Rt 18. We drove through Elkins on Rt 21 to the BRP to Doughton Park. After crossing into Va on the BRP.

  29. Trip to Doughton Park Campground NC on the Blue Ridge Parkway. First camping trip to Doughton Park. Cost is $10 per night with the geezer card. All of the campground roads are paved. There’s no water or electricity at the campsites and their restrooms don’t have showers. They have a uphill dump station that makes dumping Ollie easy. When filling the fresh water tank could only fill to 70% due to grade at fill area. They have plenty of hiking trails. The picnic area was a beautiful place, especially for sunsets. We will be visiting again.

  32. Lithionics are 12v., so certainly parallel. Parallel adds up the storage capacity (amp hours) , serial adds voltage (as in golf cart 6v batteries, wired first in pairs in series, then parallel with two pair .) All our systems are 12v in the Ollie, so that's the voltage goal. Glad you are trying to learn your system. Any other questions?

  34. It takes a few full charge cycles to get the cells to balance, they talk about this in the Lithionics manual, have you been following their guidelines? How many cycles (charged to 100%) have yours had since you got the trailer? I have Battle Borns, and they only balance (between batteries and between cells) when they are at 100% state of charge and they sit for a while. I think that is typical for this type of cell. 40. Thanks @Dave and Kimberly , the Kayaks are Old Town Cayuga (rotomold) 13 footers so they cut through the water nicely still do not hold a candle to a well made FG or Kevlar. We were once out with some people who had a 17 foot tandem FG very thin, narrow, sleek and light weight. The couple would flawlessly perform 3-4 strokes and they were gone. It was quite amazing to watch.

  43. We camped at State Forest State Park, Colorado a couple of weeks ago. It’s the largest state park in Colorado with multiple campgrounds and lots of dispersed sites. It’s just north of Rocky Mountain National Park and east of Steamboat Springs, so all the sites are at elevation. There is one campground that has 30a electric hookups, we didn’t see it so can’t comment. Our site was at 9,100’ and except for one night of torrential rain the weather was great, highs in the upper 70s and lows in the high 30s. All propane appliances worked as they should (furnace, hot water tank, cook top and Weber grill). State Forest State Park is in Routt National Forest. This is about 20 miles from our campsite. This is in Bockman campground. 9,100+ feet elevation. Dry camping but there were a couple of well maintained vault toilets. The Weber fired right up despite the elevation. Steaks in the Rockies can’t be beat. Orvis flannel required. This lake (can’t remember the name) was just a few miles from our site. There were a dozen or so camping sites around the lake, well spaced. I wish I would have done more research as they looked very nice. Still a little snow up there. Carol got good use of her flannel as well. Beats south Texas summer heat!!

  44. LITHIONICS BATTERY NOTE: Attached documents are current to the date of this posting. Revisions are done periodically, you will need to visit https://lithionicsbattery.com/support/ to download the latest version in order to have the most up-to-date information. Understanding Battery State of Charge (SOC) State of Charge is a metered reading from a Hall Effect Shunt and is a count-down meter that is most accurate on its first cycle after calibration but becomes less accurate over time. What this means is that once the batteries are fully charged the SOC reading will be more accurate but as you use the batteries thru *micro cycles and do not fully charge them the SOC will no longer be accurate. You may see a 80% SOC but the batteries might actually be at a 20% rate. Lithionics recommends performing a full charge on the batteries every 2 weeks to recalibrate the internal Hall Effect Sensor shunt. *Please see attached document: "Lithionics - Understanding SOC" for more information. *A micro cycle is considered a discharge/recharge where the batteries are used but not fully charged. Voltage vs SOC Lithium batteries maintain a higher voltage throughout the state of charge compared to sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries. Voltage is not a good indicator to determine the state of charge for a Lithium battery as the charge/discharge curve is not linear. The battery management system counts AMPs going in and out to determine SOC, however, as stated above a full charge cycle on the batteries must occur every 2 weeks to keep it calibrated for proper readings. With this being said there is a chart to display ROUGH assimilation between SOC and open circuit voltage. Please see the attached document: "Lithionics Voltage vs SOC" for more information as well as graphs & charts regarding voltage and state of charge. Lithium Battery Storage Procedures Proper storage of your Lithium batteries is very important in order to keep the battery healthy and give it the most life. Proper storage is determined by the length of storage as well as the temperature and humidity at which they will be stored. Please see the attached document: "Lithionics Storage Procedure Rev. 7" for more information. Note: Lithionics has updated the storage procedure to include storing the batteries with a constant charge if you are storing in winter conidtions. Lithionics Battery Bluetooth App The Lithionics batteries can be monitored via a bluetooth connection with your smart device. You will need to download the Lithionics app and connect to the battery. NOTE: You can only connect to a single battery at a time. Please see attached document: "Lithionics Battery App" for more information. If you already have the app but are having trouble connecting to your battery, please see attached document: Lithionics Bluetooth Connectivity Support".
