This is a duplicate of a post I made on the Facebook Oliver owner’s page. I’m sharing here for those not on Facebook that may be interested in a dehumidifier option for their Oliver. We were experiencing rainy and cool weather at the rally and conditions in the Olivers were getting steamy. Facebook post: Temperature and humidity outside at Lake Guntersville state park are 62deg and 94% humidity this morning. Inside OllieHaus it’s a perfect 73 deg and thanks to our counter top dehumidifier, it’s a very comfortable 46% humidity with all windows closed. No heat or AC needed. Loving life in our Oliver!! Edit: Here’s a link on Amazon for the dehumidifier if interested: Dehumidifier8 points

I really appreciate the duplicate post in that I'm one of those that does not "do" Facebook. Bill6 points

The Legacy II is a two-person rig which is realistically limited to one child sized visitor. There is good and bad news there. Bad news is that you really cannot realistically sleep more than 2 adults comfortably. Good news is that you really cannot realistically be expected to sleep more than two adults comfortably.5 points

That’s exactly what the problem was. Thank you so much. We’re back in business after having spent the better part of two days trying to solve this.3 points

My wife and I purchased Hull #251 on Sunday. I believe we're the fourth owners. This is our first travel trailer since a tent trailer in the 90's. Really regret we'll miss the owner's rally this weekend. Looking forward to getting out with the trailer but it will be a few weeks. We'll do some local shake down trips to start. We've been lurking on the site for the last couple years and really appreciate all the owner information we've read. Thanks, Tony & Rhonda2 points

If you’re not familiar with these breakers it can be confusing. Ask me how I know! Mike2 points

Glad you pointed this out. I did measure load in the camper that morning and on high it was drawing 1.75 amps / 125 watts. Regarding when we use this, I leave it on all the time while in storage and plugged in to keep humidity low in the Oliver during storage. For the situation this post was referring to, we were without power in the park due to storms, and the very low draw allowed us to remain in total comfort running only the dehumidifier throughout the night, and in the morning we still had 69% of our lithium batteries (640 a/h system) remaining on the Victron meter. We are currently reroute home so I will answer additional questions this evening.2 points

Arg! I didn’t get around to meet you guys! We saw the kids down by the lake, and it must have been Net walking the dogs. Just didn’t get to your site. Too many new people to meet and not enough time. Hopefully next year!2 points

A pleasure meeting you at the Rally Vince, and glad you are apart of this forum!2 points

Unfortunately we will not be showing our trailer today. Just too much rain and mud. So the next best thing is a video tour. We will miss seeing all of you. Enjoy. IMG_2245.mov2 points

Last year's Asian is still my favorite, but, you guys are amazing. I have no clue how one's mind must work to come up with these decorating idea let alone execute them so well. Bill1 point

Problem Solved: Bad Crimps on New 3 way crimp connectors I had bought new brake and hubs for the trailer and had the installation done at the same place doing our Truma Recall. I looked more closely and used a check light to trace power to the new 3way crimp connectors (for the new brake assemblies.) They didn't look fully seated on the fronts the same as the rear. Squeezed them with a pair of channel locks and voila, now the front brakes on both sides are engaging. Since I was under the trailer I went around and manually adjusted all 4 brakes to the same resistance. Next I'll be burnishing in the brakes as we begin our next trip. Mike - Not surprisingly since our hull are so close - mine didn't come with grommets either. However, a few years back Bugeyedriver put me onto a set and I've never looked back. After all, what's good for Pete can't be all that bad!🤪 Bill1 point
-
That’s never happened. I might try to fit some grommets just to see what I might be missing!1 point
-
The rubber grommets hold the hook in a secure fashion that seems to offer some rattle resistance but I'm not sure it is really needed. Although, it would keep it from bouncing out of the holder when traveling.1 point
-
My trailer didn’t come with any grommets. Still doesn’t have any. I haven’t noticed much of a rattle during windy conditions. Mike1 point
-
Exact match. I took the one from my door into Lowes before it rotted and fell off so I would know. Last one from Lowes lasted three years before falling off. Looks like I need to root thru the drawer for a replacement1 point
-
Be a bit careful with these in that Oliver has used several different styles of these door retainers over the years. Before you buy - make sure that you are getting the correct grommets for your particular Ollie. Bill1 point
-
Bought a package of them at Lowes and keep in the junk drawer in the trailer. If I recall they were pretty reasonable1 point
-
I last ordered off Amazon back in 2021. They seem to last a year. Of course they are not in stock now, but here are the measurements from what I ordered: Pack of 100 Rubber Grommets: 1/4 Inside Diameter - 3/32" Groove Width - Fits 3/8" Drill Holes.1 point
-
If by "they" you mean Oliver - As far as I know these door holders didn't originally come with the rubber grommets. But, Oliver added them when it was found that the door hook would "rattle" in the that hole that is just a little too big when the wind blew. Assuming that this is true - I'm guessing that Oliver has not been able to locate a supply of anything other than rubber too.😢 Bill1 point
-
Yes. It seems strange that they would make this out of some fine stainless and then put windshield wiper rubber in the retainer holes.1 point

Base weight of 12,000-13,000 lbs and gross of 16,000. Better have a huge towing rig for that kind of weight, but they are nice for the most part. I shutter to think of what these things might cost.1 point

So glad it all worked out and you are good to go! Now enjoy and wishing you safe travels! 🇺🇸1 point

If and when we outgrow hull 997, Elite II, we’ll go with a certified pre-owned Living Vehicle. So far, we haven’t felt the need to scratch that itch, but I am interested in the LV’s.1 point

Tony and Rhonda, Welcome and congrats on your new to you Oliver. Enjoy those small trips as we did as new owners and get to know your Oliver! Wishing you many safe and happy miles, making great memories! 🇺🇸1 point

Frankfort is 45 minutes to an hour from Winchester depending on traffic in Lexington. Several nice restaurants in and around Frankfort. We like Goodwood and Bourbon On Main in Frankfort. Call first as they may be closed due to the flooding a few weeks ago. If you like bourbon, there are three close distilleries; Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve and Castle and Key. Probably no availability on tours this close but you may be able to get some tastings. If you go to Woodford or Castle & Key, The Stave Restaurant is a good lunch spot. Reservations recommended and dark on Mondays and Tuesday. Good luck and have a good trip. Tony1 point

Tony and Rhonda, Welcome to the group! We’re starting our 10th year with our Oliver and it’s been our second home as we’ve traveled the country. Hope you get a lot of enjoyable miles and memories with your “new” Oliver. We’ll be in your neighborhood in a week (Winchester) for a 50th wedding anniversary for Carol’s brother and sister-in-law. We’ll be camping in Frankfort. Small world! Mike1 point

Yeah I hear you on the interior part. In this regard the new Lance travel trailers have more appeal to me but perhaps not as good a floor plan. The exteriors of any of these boxy trailers takes a back seat to the Oliver by a long shot though. I wonder what that titanium package adds to the cost of the base model though, has to be significant. Would love to had a more detailed view of the suspension on this trailer too. The shackles look very similar to the Dexter upgrades I did years ago. Never cared for slide outs either but like their mod to theirs. Funny my wife and I for the most part rarely ever camp with hookups and the most amps we have ever burned through is about 85-90 on very cold nights running the furnace. Thus my fascination on how much energy they were consuming.1 point
-
Congrats! By this time next year you will be really ready to see what others have done and be able to show off things that you've thought of. Welcome to the Family and don't forget to look over the Oliver University as well as the wealth of knowledge and mods that are here on the Forum. Bill1 point

Airstream makes a great trailer that is visually stunning and iconic. We loved our Basecamp; our trailer before our Oliver. I would recommend however doing a deep dive in Airforums before purchasing one. Things that immediately come to mind are a long history of poorly addressed front end separation by the factory, a devastating hailstorm at the Jackson Center production facility, and exterior skin failure at the mounts of the segment protectors. You may already be aware of these issues, and they often are not a deal breaker.1 point
-
Agree with Steve the Escapes are nice but there are some short cuts. We have been in a few of them and just were not that impressed. Regarding Airstreams, granted they have some very nice interiors but I have lost count of the times having conversations with AS owners and listening to the issues they have had. Most people actually carry a pop rivet gun along due to the rivets popping out, insulation is minimal at best. My wife thinks of them as a bear can on wheels, a bit harsh for sure. I do agree the Bigfoots are nice too, very well built and about as 4 season as anything out there. In addition I would also add the Lance Travel Trailers to the group of very well built. They have a state of the art facility in CA and while they may look like a typical stick built trailer they are anything but. If I were to ever change from the Oliver the Lance is the first thing I would be looking at. That said I don't particularly care for the models with the slide-outs. But their construction quality is truly a cut above. Hope this helps1 point

HaHa that sounds Ok with me thats what I get for being late. This will be my first rally and really looking forward to meeting fellow Ollie owners and gaining knowledge about the Brand and modifications. Thanks to all who put so much content on the forums its really interesting to read about.1 point

I also forgot to register, as did Steve C., who also forgot when. Oh well. I'll wing-it. Too much life stuff this year to keep up.1 point

The deadline was April 1st. Just showing up would not be a good idea. I would suggest calling Oliver. Deadlines are for a reason, especially for the dinner, which is based on those that registered by 4/1/20251 point
-
We can't answer that. I would call Oliver. The opening dinner is based on the registration, as is the registration package. You should be on the phone with Oliver.1 point
