  1. We recently had to retire our iPhone 7’s as Apple is no longer going to push IOS updates out for our older phones and our phones could not be updated. Our phones kept getting “No service” icons and Apple could not fix the issue. Planned obsolescence?? (We learned this icon signaled a failure of an iPhone component.) So, the dreaded and costly update to new phones had to happen. We decided to bite the bullet and purchase outright (2) new iPhone 14’s and continue with our Verizon plan. I attached a tutorial video of the new iPhone 14 SOS feature. There maybe other better tutorials out there, but this pretty much covers the basics. The SOS feature is provided “free of charge” for the first two years and it’s a subscription after that. It will be interesting to see what Apple charges for the subscription service. Needless to say the SOS feature could really come in handy in an emergency situation where no cell service is available and we need emergency services. Just passing this info forward in the event anyone is looking at purchasing a new iPhone. Naturally we hope we never need the SOS feature, however it is a peace of mind to know that we have it available in an emergency. Happy and Safe Travels! Patriot🇺🇸

  2. I’ve seen improvement switching to Sylvania SilverStar Ultra bulbs in a number of different vehicles. Beyond a replacement style bulb swap, there isn’t much you can legally do to improve on the factory lighting. Make sure they’re adjusted properly for the max load you’re likely to carry and keep them clean and polished. Stay away from the aftermarket vanity bulbs, specifically anything blue.

  3. This company might be worth calling. I have not used them so I cannot endorse their products or customer service. https://www.headlightrevolution.com I see you own a 6.7 power stroke. I do use this on line distributor for OEM filters and have been very happy with their prices and shipping. https://www.dieselfiltersonline.com Just passing it forward.

  4. Be advised the Crash Detection feature was enabled to the "Call after severe crash" on my phone iPhone 14 when i received it. How do I know? I went riding on my dirt bike outside of cell service for several hours while camping with my phone secured in my jacket. Upon returning to the camper I had multiple calls and texts from both the Florida Highway Patrol and Okaloosa County Sheriff. They had been notified via 911 that I had crashed and they were looking for me. The off road riding had triggered the crash detection which automatically, and without my knowledge, had started notifying 911. I made a couple calls to let the police know I was fine, and told them my phone had done this on its own because iPhone doesn't know how awesome I can ride. 😂 Anyway, I turned off this setting to prevent this in the future, it can be found under "Settings->Emergency SOS->Crash Detection". It probably makes sense to have this enabled for most folks, just not me. Just be aware that on my phone this setting was defaulted to the "Call after severe crash" position...my wife's phone was also triggered while she was running and fell. She was fine and didn't require 911. Be safe out there.

  5. Don't know what type of aluminum they are made of, but they seem to be strong enough for this application. I've used it on several trips already and haven't noticed any bending of the channel lips that hold the bolt heads, but will keep an eye on that going forward. Inside the cabinet I reused the original large metal plate that the factory TV was mounted to. Countersunk the track so the screw heads were recessed and then used lock nuts inside the cabinet. I think I used 6 per side. The TV bracket itself is the same one currently used by Oliver. I used the knobs included in the track kit to mount the TV mount so I'm able to adjust the mount tightness by hand. I'll get some better pics soon. It's actually very easy to access the rear window in case of emergency. I can grab TV, pull it forward, and then slide it right off the track which gives me more room than if the TV was there in the folded up position. This is the main reason I didn't recess the channel into the cabinet which would have looked more aesthetically pleasing, but wouldn't allow such quick access to the rear window. My favorite part of this mod is that the TV can be slid almost to the back window and the seat space below is now usable with the TV down. Makes the space feel so much larger even though the TV is so much bigger than what was there. Almost like having a wall mounted TV.

  6. I'm all smiles reading these posts. Our adult daughter grew up camping and sailing and traveling with us. It wasn't always easy, but she tells us now that her life was so very enriched with all our trips. Have fun, and I'm personally really happy that you're introducing your adorable little one to the great outdoors, from the get-go. PS, we potty trained our daughter on the boat. She'd probably be embarrassed with this post 😄, but, you know, it is what it is. And, it's a great memory... The smaller toilet was less intimidating to her, I think.

  7. Made a quick trip through the Tractor Supply in Lewiston, Maine. Was surprised to see a new 8' display of RV supplies. Will have to go back when have more time. Big new plastic wedges for the tires (means I can leave the heavy rubber ones home?)? Water hoses, dogbones, sewer connections and whatever. At least I will have to go back and make a mental note of what is there. I know TS are everywhere and if I need something like I might remember I can scoot in and get. Have to check prices too, as probably a lot better than some RV dealers, with better parking with a trailer on?

  8. For the F-150, here is a video for the process. Sort of a PITA. Doing so on short life span bulbs would be a commitment. Certainly worth for some. I think that the "Bambi Mod" worked well enough for our purposes. GJ

  9. How are the lenses? Buffing out any haze or yellowing is the first step. Next comes bulbs like Silver Star, next comes aftermarket HID bulbs, after that, entirely new housings. How far do you want to go? Adding extra low beams might work but you run into legal issues and might get ticketed. I don’t know if this is the correct bulb for your truck. Be aware these have very short life spans and must be replaced in pairs. https://www.amazon.com/SYLVANIA-SilverStar-Performance-Replacement-Technology/dp/B008BE04C6 https://www.xenonhids.com/ford/2019/f-250-super-duty.html John Davies Spokane WA

  11. I announced a couple weeks back that we would be selling our Oliver after having our baby. We also decided that we would take the Oliver for one last spin with our baby for the memories. We live in central Louisiana, and our goal was to get to Grayton Beach State Park and Topsail State Park in Florida. The total drive time getting there was about 6-7 hours plus the pit stops we needed to take. For our first night though, we stayed in Baton Rouge. We arrived during a tornado watch at 10pm due to weather delays and I set up in the pouring rain. Our baby had a hard time sleeping this night as well and my wife and I decided “NOPE!” We both wanted to cancel the trip. We decided during lunch the next day to push forward and really give it a try instead of cancelling. We are so glad and thankful that we pushed forward. It was one of our favorite and sweetest camping experiences of our life. Grayton state park and Topsail state park are incredible locations if you can get a spot. The surrounding area (30A) is also very nice and family friendly with great restaurants, cafes, and breweries. Our legacy elite II twin layout worked perfectly for us. Our baby slept in one of the twin beds with a rail guard protector I installed, and I slept on the twin bed table area conversion. We will probably look into getting a custom twin bed for this spot and have it set up permanently as we rarely used the table anyway. The one issue we did run into is that our baby hates riding in the carseat, which makes a 6-7 hour drive a bit difficult. We solved this by leaving very early in the morning for the drive there and for the drive home. How early? 4AM & 3AM respectively We loved the trip so much, we decided we are not going to sell our camper for now and hold onto this to continue making special memories.

  12. Our three kids always enjoyed camping when they were growing up. We tented initially then moved up to first a used pop up trailer, then a new pop up. I am looking forward to taking our grandson camping with our LE2. He just turned one so it won't be immediately. John

  13. GJ This is a picture of the Dometic A/C drain kit instructions. The 14" square gasket in your picture of the drain kit is used in addition to the existing 14" gasket around the hull penetration with a notch cut into the original to allow passage of the drain tube from the cups to the internal drain tube. The 2 straight gaskets are stacked at the rear of the base plate to level to unit. Mossey

  14. It will be interesting to see this space (no pun intended) grow. T-Mobile and SpaceX announced plans to get into this space as well. It is still early and it seems 2023 may only bring the ability to send text messages. A start is allowing every mobile phone to have no dead spots. Good and bad IMHO as some times it is really nice to be totally disconnected. Even if speeds are slow the ability to have an SOS connection to get word out is nice.

  15. I discovered this last fall when we were somewhere with no cell service. My phone prompted me through the connection process to the satellite, then I had a little satellite icon where the cell bars were. Could come in handy, both the 911 feature and the location service. Mike

  16. Santa Rosa Lake State Park in Santa Rosa, New Mexico provides a scenic and affordable place to stay in Eastern New Mexico not far off I-40. There are good hiking trails that take off right from the campground with nice views of the lake. I second the recommendation to see the Grand Canyon, if possible, when near Flagstaff, Arizona on I-40. As mentioned by AlbertnTerri above, since the north rim will likely be snowed in this time of year, he will need to drive out of his way to get to the south rim. Worth the drive, IMHO. It offers some of the most spectacular hiking in the world.

  17. Hey all, on the topic of travel trailer accessories and campsite equipment, a couple years back we were referred by a friend that we should try Strongback ergonomically correct folding camp chairs. I have had lower back problems my entire adult life and the typical "bag chair" that is sold for camping and outdoor activity is the worst thing in the world for me to sit in. After a weekend of using these old style chairs at the camp site I could barely make it to work on a Monday. The Strongback chairs were designed with exactly my problem in mind and have actually been on the market for several years. I don't think you will find another camp chair anything like it and it even comes with a 2 year warranty which is extraordinary. We bought two of these a couple years ago and they have been our go to folding chairs when out and about since, but they also get used continuously around the house because of the level of comfort they provide. They are roomy in size and built very sturdy. If you're like me and struggle to use the typical sling style folding chair, I highly recommend you give these a try. If you buy them through Amazon you can try them for a month risk free and if you don't like them just return them through your local Kohls store no questions asked. I promise you will be amazed as soon as you sit in one. https://www.amazon.com/STRONGBACK-Folding-Camping-Portable-2-0/dp/B072PR6JNG/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=339C62QRRDQVH&keywords=strongback%2Bchair&qid=1673659288&sprefix=strongba%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzMEUwQlVaWTVHVENRJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDg1MDYzMlNUNzRIWkJITjhMQiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjE2NDIxMkY2OEVVM0NJTDVSVCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1

  18. Actually, they are separated. They're in Oliver blogs. I rather enjoyed the Oregon blog post, though I skip most of the posts in the blogs section, or just skim and find nothing of interest, so I just move on.... We all have that capability. Just skip anything in blogs. I do really, really enjoy reading posts from members about their favorite camping places and experiences, though. We can all learn from each other. And be kind, doing so. Different subforum. This is not a tech forum only. It's a place to share tech, but also camping experiences and sometimes, just hang out and have some fun. It's actually good for our health when we can laugh together. And I've learned a bunch here. Both in technical info, and places that I'd love to explore, but haven't (yet), and had some goofy fun, too. JED already apologized. We've all been guilty of saying something we would rather have said another way, as print communication is far more difficult than in person. Could we give it a rest?

  19. I replaced the old-school Jensen 24" that was in my Ollie when bought it with a 34" LED. Would have rather went with a 32", but decided to use a spare TV that I wasn't using instead. I did end up mounting it on a rail system so I could slide the TV back to the rear window when in the down position since it was way too far forward for my liking without it. Pretty happy with it but still might downsize to a 32" when this one craps out.

  21. We travel in our Elite 1 with an (almost) 2 year old. Florida state parks are some of the best. We stayed in Henderson Beach State park last year, and have reservations at Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park this coming summer.

  27. I am very happy that you have decided to give it a GO. You might want to consider finding some blogs/articles about camping with infants, to see what their experience has been. And if there is not a lot of information out there, then maybe you should share your experiences in blogs/articles with pictures, like you have done with us. Enjoy your time together, and keep the pics coming. Bryan

  28. Take a look at this old thread and comment afterwards. https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/3145-owner-personal-liability-if-prospective-buyer-injures-himself/ This new program sure looks like an official business arrangement, with “sales employees” who get financially reimbursed for advertising work that benefits the company….. I did not read the fine details, does Oliver TT say anything about this issue? FYI, while I stopped officially showing “Mouse” due to liability concerns. I still do frequent walk around tours. The last was in October ‘22 to a milling and excited crowd of about 25 retired women who meet at campgrounds to do stuff together like biking or golfing. Three of them physically blocked the road as I was trying to exit in the morning. That was a hoot, I thought I might get kissed at one point. Didn’t happen, darn it. John Davies Spokane WA

  32. I've just replaced my 2018 original Furrion with a 28" 12 volt, Free Signal, Transit. Functionality is a big improvement but installation did require a complete recabling of the entertainment system due to cable port function and location differences. It fits fine with respect to the window shade and cable through-grommet, but it is about two inches thicker and extends forward of the overhead about an inch. I looked at moving the mount 1-1/2" to the rear but this would be quite involved due to the size of the aluminum backing plate that's epoxied to the fiberglass attic floor. I elected to just add some small vinyl bumpers to the attic door hinge buttons in order to limit the door travel and prevent an open latch from contacting the screen. The last picture is looking up from the vanity top. Look closely and you can see how much clearance there is between the TV and window shade. I do plan to lower the TV on the mount slide the last available inch, visible in picture three. This will reduce the rear clearance when raised but there's still enough space.
