What's your hull number. How are you charging them? Are you charging from shore power using the on board inverter/charger? If you're running from a 15 amp circuit plugged into the trailer you may need to change the settings on the charging part of the inverter charger. A little more info will help us troubleshoot. Based on my recent Truma dissection and research, I am suspicious that your condensate lines are at fault. The Truma has a pan under the evaporator to collect condensate. The pan has a drain and overflow on street and curbside. It is designed so that if the condensate lines become occluded, the condensate will pass through the overflow and onto the outside of the trailer. If both the condensate drain lines and the overflow are occluded, I understand that the condensate can drain into the trailer. Furthermore about a foot from the evaporator pan, there is a connection where the condensate line from the pan connects to the condensate line in the trailer. Again, based on my understanding, if this connection fails, water can then drain from the unit into the trailer. I hope this is clear and helps. it isn’t too difficult to investigate these issues further but it does involve an hour on the roof of the trailer, a T25 and T30 driver and some sealant to reseal the shroud cover screws after reinstallation.5 points

Oliver was quick to reimburse any warranty repairs at a local RV repair shop. I’m assuming that would continue if the dealers are going away. We had a couple of warranty things repaired locally years ago and Oliver sent us a check to cover the repairs. I’m always looking for an excuse to go to Tennessee, one of our favorite places to camp and visit. Mike4 points

Hey John, this guy is OK. He's Matt Marcenelle, Retired Military, Wife is a retired Coast Guard Commanding Officer. Son just graduated from West Point. They live up in Pennsylvania and have had their Oliver 4-5 years. I met him the week he got his trailer. He called me this morning about this issue. It seems to be charging fine off AC but not so well off Solar. He did have his panels off earlier this summer for ceramic coating of the trailer. I told him to recheck his panel connections and if that didn't work to call Victron. I really don't think it's his batteries. He has a Xantrex converter/charger that I know almost nothing about. Hope you guys are doing well. Will we see you in Quartzsite this winter?3 points

In addition to Galway Girl's important questions: How are you measuring charge rate and charge level? Are you using the Lithionics app, the Victron Connect app, the SeeLevel gauge next to the pantry or a multimeter? Also, are you charging using the solar panels? This additional info will help us help you. Rivernerd2 points

I've seen LED trailer lights work correctly getting their ground through just the hitch coupling alone but then the trailer brakes work intermittently or not at all. Happened to me a few years back with my boat trailer. Still think a missing ground is at the bottom of the list in this situation though... If it were mine, I'd hit both connectors with some DeoxIT before I even broke out the multimeter.2 points
-
I tend to agree, and venture to say likely a bad ‘blue’ wire connection either at the male 7-pin connector or downstream on the Oliver. The OP has no issue with other trailers being pulled by his F350 and thus, don’t think the vintage of the TV or inherent factory installed equipment issues are of concern.2 points
-
That trailer ground works for the breakaway switch since the battery in the trailer powers it, but to complete the brake circuit from the truck you must have a good ground from the truck to the trailer too2 points

Nice to see that Oliver is now using standard electrical boxes instead of the "Speed Box" type receptacles that I replaced in our 2010 model.2 points

Exactly. I had no interest in rewiring. Still have the box with other items in the event one needs to be replaced.2 points
-
There is a simpler fix. One could just back out the mounting screw and thread on the ‘wing’ taken off a new box and thus, no rewiring of the fixture! As you duly noted, these plastic boxes are cheap; they are also easy to install, but care should be taken to not over tighten the mounting screws which can result in the breakage observed.2 points
-
Oliver forgot to put the backer on ours. It was very loose. They sent me a new box under warranty, and I removed the plate and installed on the existing outlet.2 points

Yep, it could be broken or folded back and the should be two of them. They are designed to spread out to hold when tightening the mounting screws. If broken, it’s a $2 HW store part. You would need to rewire the outlet replacing the box. First open the “outlet” breaker or the main 30A breaker in your 120VAC power panel.2 points

Another vote for Meriwether. We had a great stay there and the host is wonderful.2 points

Funny you post that. Last summer my AC was dripping down the front street side corner. Oliver blamed that on the angle of the trailer. Something is fishy.1 point

I think that is a picture of an automatic resetting breaker in the B+ path from the solar charge controller. Both the red/black and the solid black should run up the the wall to the Solar CC. The red/black wire eventually goes to the battery positive/B+ and the black wire ends up at the battery negative/B-. They are zip cord wires just like a lamp cord, so you can verify my thoughts by determining if the insulation is in fact joined together as it heads up the wall under the SS bed. I’m pretty sure they will be 8AWG wire. Mossey1 point

You definitely need the brakes working. You're not legal without them. I have read somewhere about some trucks having a problem with some trailers. Found this online: "Ford vehicles, particularly certain F-150 and Super Duty models, have experienced issues with their factory-installed trailer brake controllers. These problems can range from the trailer brakes not engaging at all, to intermittent connection problems, or even the trailer brakes applying unexpectedly and forcefully. A common cause is a software glitch within the integrated trailer brake control module, which can prevent the controller from correctly detecting a trailer or properly applying the brakes. " See if you can borrow someone else's truck to see if the problem persists. Another likely failure point is the 7 way plug on the trailer. Those contacts can become spread out and/or corroded. Look inside the plug and inspect the brake contacts with a flashlight. If they're corroded, a temporary fix can be using a thin file, emory board, or screwdriver blade to scrape the contacts clean. If they seem spread out, use a small screw driver or hook to bend them back inward a bit. These would be temporary fixes. If your plug is shot, it's easy to replace. Disconnect the trailer batteries before you start because the 12v Power lead is hot and then follow this wiring diagram to install a new plug.1 point

Here’s a thread addressing this issue with pictures. If this is your problem it’s pretty straightforward to fix. Good luck. Mike Brake Disconnect Thread1 point

Hey Ray, I had an issue with my brakes intermittently disconnecting. There is a set of brake wires that go through the rear axle that had worn to the point where bare wire was contacting the metal axle. Several other owners have had the same issue. The wires were pulled out and replaced and are now zip tied to the outside of the axle. Problem solved. It’s a bit unusual that your trailer is not high mileage for this to be the cause but it is worth checking. I’ll see if I can dig up some of the old posts on this issue. Mike1 point

Good write up John, and that is your story and your STICKING TO IT! Bada bum!! 🥁 Pun intended! 😄1 point

When we replaced our window shades the company sent us the wrong size for the back window. (Yes, we finally got the right size.) I am hoping that the left-over shade might fit one of the new rear windows and someone can use it. The measurements from the back of the frame, where it is not curved, are 21 3/4 x 38. Paula1 point

I've heard really good things about Meriwether's Retreat B&B as @Dennis and Melissa mentioned. If you have a dog that may not work. We've stayed at The Commodore Hotel in Linden in the past ( because we have a dog ). The Commodore is a little "funky" but ok and they allow dogs. My first choice would be Meriwether.1 point

@John Dorrer Thanks John! I'll see what I can do. It's good to hear that yours is holding up after the fix.1 point

Welcome, Gene, you've come to the right place! Most problems you will encounter with your Oliver have been discussed throughout the years and you won't find a more friendly or helpful group than this forum. Newer trailers incorporate new problems to solve but this is one heck of a synergistic group to work with. Best of luck and hope to see you "out there" one day :) John1 point

We own same year hull 505. Started towing with 1/2 ton then upgraded. We share a ton of info on our blog here that may be useful as an owner of the same year. https://4-ever-hitched.com/ Craig & Rose hull 505 - Galway Girl1 point

@jd1923, I used to live near Mason City, and family is from near your Minnesota destination. Did you camp near Thornton, at Ingebritsen? Just curious. Hope your dinner was great. We spent a lot of time at Clear Lake, back in the day. Those restaurants are long gone, however.1 point

Congratulations you two lovebirds! Enjoy your continued togetherness as you explore this great land with your Oliver. As you take care of it, and each other, it will provide you an "extended honeymoon shack" for the next 30 years!1 point

So our 31st anniversary was spent a few nights ago. Nice to spend it in the Oliver! Today is Chris' birthday and our 2nd year Oliver Anniversary to the day! 'Twas 2 years ago today when I surprised Chris with the Oliver in our driveway! See the first picture of this thread for our Day 1 picture. Two years going strong and so far 92 overnights in our Oliver (will hit 100 soon on this trip)! We are camping near Mason City, north central Iowa. Was hoping for some pickleball today then dinner out. Pickleball will likely have to wait unless it clears out this afternoon, but we'll have a nice dinner out either way. Thinking of the Blue Heron Bar & Grill. Hard to imagine a place that has 5-Stars on Yelp with 89 reviews. Wow, it should be good! One more night here and tomorrow we will be with Chris' sister in Farmington MN, just a 2-hour drive from here. Charley's birthday is next week too, when he will turn 11. He sleeps a lot, is a bit hard of hearing, but still our great family dog! Isn't he pretty? Proudly protecting his Oliver!1 point

I've had nothing but problems with the Mopeka. They are super sensitive to placement and I can get it right outside the doghouse only to discover it not working properly when the tanks are installed and secured. I tried many times and finally gave up. I simply use the "use one tank till empty and switch over" technique. It's a little uncomfortable when you run out after going to bed.1 point
