  1. JD, My rear emergency exit window has an integrated gutter so I did not use the EZE Gutter there. I did think your use of the extra gutter over the upper refrigerator vent was an excellent idea. I was able to complete my installation with 2-10' rolls of EZE Gutter. And as another forum poster suggested, I used the 3M 4298 Adhesion Promotor. Mossey

  2. We would also like to see a West Rally. Finding a site will be a challenge during these crazy days of RV-mania. Hoping to see some semblance of the old RV life where campsites don't have to be reserved months in advance.

  3. Thank you everybody for your input. It turns out the water heater draws 1200 watts, the battery charger draws about 200 and that would make up about the 1500 watts I was seeing. I guess I was curious to see if the bypass switch was causing the issue because of the ground neutral disconnect at the generator. Going forward I think I just need to make sure the water heater is off and should be able to run the air conditioning with no problem. Everybody have a great day and once again thanks for your input.

  4. This isn't a full HOW TO install them, there are plenty of videos you can watch. Here's one: ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsEjREGiBj0 ... The most important thing is prep, you must get ALL the old junk and wax off or the adhesive won't stick well. I started with isopropyl alcohol, then followed up with 3M Adhesive Cleaner, with an old clean tee shirt. One big problem I had was with the rounded corners, they would not lie flat. This was indoors at 78 degrees F. I used a heat gun on LOW to warm the plastic, then pressed it down hard, and held it for a few seconds while it cooled. I then warmed the entire length and worked it hard against the gelcoat with a plastic tool and my fingers. The 3M VHB adhesive is heat activated and it set up well, and there are no worries of the gutters lifting, there is no need to tape everything down for days, as some people have done. I am not sure why I waited so long to do this mod, it isn't very difficult. However, I ran out of material and was unable to complete the rear window, so I am waiting on another 10 foot section. When I measured, I did not plan on running the gutters so far down the window frames.... I bought a 25 foot roll. Drat. Large windows 3 @ 76" = 19.0 feet Bathroom window 42" = 3.5 feet Fridge upper vent 21"= 1.75 feet Rear hatch 68" = 5.7 feet TOTAL 359" = 30 feet MINIMUM, buy this: ... 8. We did ours on North Carolina, on our camping property. No way to use a heat gun, as we didn't have 110. That was 8 or 10 years ago. Prep is the key. Get all the dirt and wax off. It was fairly warm though, probably July, as the rhododendron was in bloom. We didn't run them far down the window sides. Instead, we angled the last few inches away from the windows. Don't know if that's better or not, but it has worked so far. Got all the windows in our littler Elite from one roll. Edit to add: it was only 7 years ago. I found my post. Even so, 7 years is pretty good. So far, so good.

  9. Here is a draft delivery checklist prompted, in part, by comments regarding a recent inverter-mount failure (see below). This delivery inspection checklist began with one used by NCeagle for his delivery, to which I've added items. The list is almost certainly incomplete -- what other items would you suggest to help new buyers? Thanks to Oliver for providing this educational ad-free forum, and to all of you for your forum posts that have contributed to this list. This open-dialogue forum is IMHO a huge asset to the OliverOllie Inspection Checklist (draft 4-9-2021).pdf travel trailer brand. I divided the list into two parts: (1) the actual delivery day inspection and (2) items for further inspection at DCSP. I plan on testing the list in 3 weeks when we pick up Hull 792, and will refine the list based on this experience (and with your additions, suggestions, comments, etc). The list is in pdf form. Once updated, I'd be happy to send out (or post) an xlsx version.

  10. I wasn't planning on going, but the Oliver needs a trip and the supercharged Tundra needs a test tow. So I decided yesterday to go. Booked a spot in the improved camping area. Any other aviation enthusiasts with an Ollie headed that way?

  11. After enjoying our first few years of retirement traveling extensively in a teardrop, we compiled quite a list of "musts" and "wants"...not to mention a few "heck no's"! One thing was for sure, we were tired of crawling in and out, walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and making our coffee outside before we were really ready to see and be seen 🙂 We were used to excellent customer service and a high quality product. The struggle was how to upsize our home away from home without scaling down the quality. Then we met a couple in a similar situation who asked us if we'd ever heard of an Oliver. David said, "Sure! They made tractors right?" The next four weeks of our National Park adventures were spent scouring the internet for every video and forum available. We also hoped to see an Oliver along the way. As fate would have it, we pulled into a campsite next to the first Oliver we'd seen. It was love at first sight! We decided to visit the factory on our way home (who doesn't like Tennessee anyway, right?) The tour sealed the deal. David spent his entire career in new model development for the auto industry and liked what he saw. At the end of the tour we placed our order and are happy to say we are "in the queue"! This Oliver will be in our family for a really long time, and we're happy to be joining a new family of like minded travelers. Happy trails!

  14. Wished I could find an Oliver to rent for the week. Normally I fly over for a few days every year but this time we are planning on staying the week. Ideally I’ll rent some type of RV for the week and bring my father or son. If not we’ll fly over early Thursday morning and stay for a couple days.

  16. Seadawg Thank you! First off... I have to say "WOW!" ... that number is the lowest I've seen! Our hull number will be just over 1,000 we think. Secondly it brought up a memory... I started at Honda of America, Mfg in Ohio back in 1983.... my Associate number was 01624... and everyone told me I was going to die on second shift, which horrified me. All these years later.... the associate numbers I'm hearing now are in the 40 ~50,000 range.

  18. Is the tv mounted under the attic or sitting on the nightstand? If it is mounted, you may be able to connect it to Oliver radio by cables. If not, the picture I forgot to add has now been added, so see my previous post. This device would work in either scenario. You could also use it with any of the portable Bluetooth speakers and set the speaker near wherever you chose to sit. Or use a headset or a pair of headsets for 2 people. Since other forum members reading your post do not necessarily understand your equipment or scenario, the more information you provide will result in more accurate responses. In this case, we don’t know anything about your tv other than it is a Visio. That bit of information rules out any responses concerning the Furrion tv, which is where I would have started without it. So please remember that with the written word, there is no such thing as too much information. I think that is why books are so long when compared to the movie. Mossey

  19. I can transmit Bluetooth from my phone or tablet to the Furrion radio without any trouble. But I use this to transmit Bluetooth from my SiriusXM satellite radio to the Furrion radio or Bose headphones. I also use one at home from my LG tv to Bose headphones. So this is a solution if you can’t connect the tv to the radio with wires or cables. Mossey

  20. Thank you for the kind words. We are proud owners now of 359. Russell, you did a thorough job of orienting us to this Oliver. We hope to keep in touch with you and Cindy as you continue to reach back of beyond. We too will have exciting ventures ahead of us. It has been a pleasure getting to know you. Dan and Ruth.

  24. I agree with keeping the floor to ceiling areas at the front. Our previous RV, a Leisure Travel Van Twin Bed, had a similar layout in the same amount of space, but the closets and bathroom were in the middle, thus cutting the visual space in 1/2. The openness was the first thing I noticed when I stepped into an Elite II for the first time, even though the LTV was a bit wider. For the shower, I'd be happy with just a shower curtain . . . . . no shower door to clean and maintain; curtains can be taken easily laundered and even replaced for a "new look".

  25. Three filters: 20 micron from Camco plus 5 micron and 0.5 micron from Beech Lane...then regulator....but internal consumption is in case of emergency only. We carry separate drinking/cooking water. Overkill? Not sure, but I've had several really bad experiences from international travel. So, I don't mind a few bucks and 5 minutes of setup.

  26. Good, thinking, JED When and if we ever run our Houghton ac long enough to get a lot of condensate off the roof, we'll see how our method works.🤔 We also lost the condensate line, with the install. The way we park and jack it at home, the condensate mainly ran off the rear curbside. Camping may be a different story.

  27. I continued them further down to get the discharge point past the joint where the two window frame pieces meet; to deal with wind driven water coming from the side; and to help anchor those pesky top corners. But really, I mostly needed to divert AC condensation from my Air Command unit, it does not have an internal drain hose, and I rarely encounter rain anyway. Since I have figured out a way to put HEPA furnace filters into my windows, I did not want condensate draining across them and ruining the paper. So the gutter project was killing two stones with one bird….😬 Join Davies Spokane WA

  28. I did this mod twice. The first time it was spring (April) and the temps were in the mid 80s. I installed the gutters then took my trailer back to storage. That night we had a norther come through and the temperatures dropped to the 30s and the next morning all the ends of my gutters had flipped up. The second time It did it was summer. Hot. No temperature drop and the gutters have remained in position for a couple of years. Like John, I did all the prep before installing. Positioning before sticking them on. Slowly remove the red backing and stick in place. I left the tape on overnight. I also let it sit in the sun after sticking the gutters. Finished product. I didn’t go down as far as John, but they still work well. We’ve had lots of rain this current trip and the run off from the roof is shunted around the windows.

  29. If you have a regular hot water heater, make sure that breaker is off, or go outside and manually switch off the electric heating element. if you have that and the fridge and the converter off…… all that is left is the AC. Unless you are also making popcorn. Basically, start with everything switched OFF, once the gennie is running and stabilized, bring things back online one at a time to see what is happening. The most common problem I have when running off the generator is the fridge, it Auto switches to 110 volts if I forget to turn off that breaker….. I always have the converter turned off, since I typically am charging off solar. Good luck. John Davies Spokane WA

  30. Try turning off the battery charger in the power distribution center and see if the generator still pulls that much power. You can easily make a neutral/ground bonding plug with a plug and a short piece of wire. I’ve made two and both work fine.

  31. Billy, BoB has used the same genset to run his Dometic. Here's his post. Do you have the soft start installed on your ac? We have the same genset, and have used it to charge the batteries, and run some power tools. Tried it with our little Houghton 9500. And it worked fine. Thankfully, we've not needed ac (yet) in the mountains this summer . Or any summer, for that matter. When you were seeing 1500 to 2000, did you still have it in choke, or in run? We don't have your inverter, so I have no idea. Actually, we don't have an inverter at all. We have the progressive dynamics charger/converter, in our older trailer.

  32. For drinking water, we've found that no matter how hard you try to keep the Fresh Tank clean, there's always the chance that things will grow in the tank, especially in the hot summer weather. So our regimen is to clean the fresh tank 2x per year, and for the fresh tank, we always use a 2 or 3 stage filter for water going INTO the tank, and for all drinking water we use a countertop Berkey Travel Size (1.5 Gal) System . The Berkey sits right beside our sink and provides plenty of water each day for 2-4 people. You can check out water filters at the Amazon Oliver Trailer Outfitters list here: https://amzn.to/2mAAgPO Here's our travel blog for other tips and mods you may find interesting: https://4-ever-hitched.com The Travel Size (1.5Gal) Berkey fits perfectly on either the counter next to the sink, or also on the Bathroom Counter. Clearsource (and Amazon) sell two and three stage high flow rate filters that include both a Sediment Filter and a Carbon Block filter for removing chemicals and improving the taste. These filter frames fit perfectly inside the side storage bay. Two stage Clearsource Filter holder shown in side bay. Filters removed to reveal plenty of room in back for 2 large milk carton containers (6 Gal and 4 Gal). and a small 1.5 Gal Bucket.

  33. Welcome Dave and Kimberly! While camping at Mt. Pisgah NC on the Blue Ridge Parkway we saw an Oliver Legacy Elite for the first time. The nice owners gave us a complete tour and we loved their beautiful Ollie. Oliver had temporarily stopped production at that time, so we waited until Ollies were back in production, finding a nice LE2 during 2016. Best Regards, Bill and Debbie 2015 LE2 #75

  35. I nominate this for “Post of the Year”. I think of them as Tool Time Tim’s. They’ll put afterburners on their lawnmowers thinking it will cut their chore times in half. They fail to factor in the Fire Dept visit to put out the brush fire.

  36. Here is one more option to consider. It works very well for us. Lifetime cooler from Walmart it serves multi purposes, takes up all the space in the basket just enough room on the back side to store two 2x6 wood blocks water tight, can be used for extra dry food or put food on ice which lasts about 4 days or just use as a anything storage. I also added a theft deterrent chain and lock on the back side. i also plan on getting another fuel pack for the other side of the basket. 4gals of fuel plus all the onboard propane I’m set for hurricane season.💨💦⚡️

  37. I would like to suggest an alternative to the 24 gallon ActionPacker, the 27 gallon Greenmade Tote. It is available at Costco for $8.50, much less than the ActionPacker 24. It is also available at other stores for $9-$14. It is lockable, although a determined thief could easily overcome the lock. I have driven through rainstorms with it, and in my hands it is waterproof. It fits perfectly in the Ollie storage basket. I carry my empty grey water waste tote on top of it.

  38. If it is the GG 750, the 15 foot or larger model uses 3 arms. Anything smaller than that would be 2 arms. I wonder if they kept the awning 15 feet or opted for 14 feet to cut costs.

  40. Tumbleweed, Cooking takes on many textures, of appliances, ingredients, techniques . . . it's the outcome that's important but the journey can be fun as well. About dissing the lowly crockpot - NOT SO FAST MOOSEBREATH! There is an excellent cookbook for the smaller crockpot that specializes in fine cuisine for 2 people . It is "Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Recipes for Two: For the Small Slow Cooker" by Beth Hensburger. (At Amazon.com for around 10 bucks) "This downsized appliance for the single person or the childless couple allows the cook to prepare a meal in the morning, head off to a job, and still have a hot meal virtually ready when the workday has ended. Hensperger demonstrates this diminutive cooker's versatility with a collection of recipes that fit in with today's changing tastes in food. Chilis and soups show off the slow cooker's obvious virtues. In addition to beef- and pork-based stews and braises, plenty of turkey and chicken recipes appeal to devotees of lower-fat cooking. Polenta and risotto enhance the usual pasta dishes." Using this book, with minimal prep, you can go off on your wanderings all day long and return to a scrumptious meal later on in the day. Try it, you just might make a skeptic a convert!

  41. May I add a quick, yummy pot of beans to go along with your grilling Seadawg? This wouldn't exactly go along with the teriyaki (because of the sweetness) But for grilling chicken, steaks, burger's etc. This is a really yummy side dish. I grew up calling them Ranch Beans, you may call it whatever you want. You can make as big as a pot as you want, just vary the amounts to meet the amount of people your feeding. 4 - people side dish- Ranch Beans 1 pound -ish of ground beef, browned (I brown with a little garlic salt) Drain off Add 1 32oz can of pinto beans (some family members use chili bean's, you decided) and a 16oz jar of salsa (we use a little more) (use any salsa you like, Brand, spicyness etc) Let simmer for at least 20 min, just before you sever stir in at least 8oz of grated Cheddar cheese (we use more!) the cheese thickens up the beans . If I am making this for a large crowd, I use Pace picante sauce (med) as it seems more universal as far as the spicyness factor! You can make this in larger amounts, If I am making this to take to a bbq potluck, I may use 4 or 5 pounds of ground beef and one of those 111oz can's of pinto beans, and lot's of salsa and cheese. There is no set recipe! You just make them as meaty, beany, cheesy, spicy as you want! Enjoy Bella
