  1. To Oliver Owners and Valued Customers, The Oliver team and family greatly appreciates and values our current owners and individuals that are considering the purchase of an Oliver. Without you the organization and Oliver brand would not be what it is today. As most of you know, Oliver Travel Trailers is going through a transition period and some of the decisions have created some questions and potential uncertainty as it relates to the direction of the company. Oliver is paying attention, listening, and monitoring all of the feedback and comments on the forum, social media, emails, and phone calls. Oliver Travel Trailers’ intent is to be very straightforward and honest with our owners, potential customers, and employees. Integrity is the foundation of the Oliver brand. Oliver feels an official company update is appropriate to help clear things up. The following are some key facts: The rumor that Oliver Travel Trailers is positioning the business to sell is absolutely a false statement. The Oliver sales team is still actively working with all new and existing customers to answer questions and assist in the purchasing process. If you are interested in purchasing an Oliver or have questions, please contact us directly. The Oliver service team is still actively providing technical support to our Oliver owners to ensure issues are resolved as quickly as possible. If you have technical support needs, please contact us directly for assistance. The decision to close the service department at this time has not been received well by many Oliver owners and potential customers. Oliver leadership is listening and plans to have discussions on this topic next week. Oliver will update our owners in the coming weeks regarding any changes. Again, Oliver Travel Trailers truly values the voice of our owners and potential customers. We’re listening and we care. Oliver Travel Trailers isn’t a prefect organization, but we are committed to ensuring our brand, our owners, and our future customers have a product and customer support that is the best it can be. Thank you for being part of the Oliver Family. Rodney Lomax Director of Operations Oliver Travel Trailers Sales & Service

  3. Thanks for the confirmation of Oliver Travel Trailers' continued dedication to Oliver customers, past, present, and future. "Transition" is a common event in the life cycle of businesses as they mature and grow. With OTT's strong heritage and dedication to building a quality travel trailer that, with proper care, will last a lifetime, you have brought value to the market and joy to many individuals and families throughout the nation. I wish you and all employees of OTT all the best as your company evolves into the future.

  4. I've been out of pocket for about a week while moving into a new home so just now catching up. It seems that change is hard for a lot of people. I can understand that. However, one thing hasn't changed. Oliver still builds great trailers. They have legendary quality and service. I don't see that changing. So, the service department in Hohenwald is shuttering for minor repairs. Does that change the quality of the trailer we own? Or does it just take away a fringe benefit? As I understand it, they will still take service calls and will handle major repairs but are handing off the minor repairs to local service centers. This really isn't any different than what I have already experienced. I have had a few problems since taking delivery, and it was handled this way without issue. I think we trust OTT to remain the legend it has always been.

  5. We, Chris & John, believe talking to OTT Service directly vs. merely reading press releases, and writing forum posts, may get you what you need. We've never asked anything of OTT Service ourselves, but EVERYTHING we have read here, posted over the last 9 months since we have been owners, shows the mothership WILL work with you. The Mods here are second to none in forum-land! I believe the great people of this OTT Forum is a mirror of the great family-owned company that IS behind us. I've not seen this in ANY OTHER automotive or RV forum in my 20 years online. Heck, if OTT will not service your needs, come visit us for 1-2 weeks and we'll do it together, my promise. Just today OTT send an email stating there has been owners discouraged and they have a management meeting planned for just next week! God Bless and best wishes to you and your family! Just call and talk to them, and call a 2nd or 3rd time if you need to. They have shown to be good people! I'm looking foward to GOOD NEWS very soon regarding this subject.😂

  6. Hi Joe, At this time the best approach is to contact Oliver customer service and they will direct you the best route forward. For a dealer list, go to the Oliver home page, click on the shopping tools tab at the top of the page, then click on the gold "Find a Dealer Nearby" button on the upper left of the page.

  10. In looking back at Jason E's post that basically started what we know about the Service situation, it was mentioned that all current Service personnel will be staying with Oliver. Ya think? Hopefully we will know even more prior to the Rally. I suspect though that one of the "problems" will be trying to separate fact from fiction. In any case, certainly there will be more to come here on the Forum - tune in everyday for the next chapter. Bill p.s. I will miss not seeing you at the Rally!

  12. This has always been a problem for me. Just how do you get those things out? It would seem you have to lift up and remove the glass but I can't do that either.... John, I also am in Portland and store my Ollie outside uncovered. Wish I had a cover but that's another story. In the winter, I keep the trailer plugged in with one of those oil filled radiators going inside at its lowest setting. I leave the bathroom window open a crack, unless I know a big freeze is coming. And also have my shades closed, though you may want to try leaving them open an inch or two for ventilation. I also always have some short pieces of paracord stuffed in the weep holes of the windows to aid water drainage out of the track. This was talked about a while back and it really helps keep the tracks dry. Those narrow weep holes do not drain water very effectively, but the paracord sucks the water out like a lantern wick. Some folks use pipe cleaners, but I have lots of paracord so use that with great success. Keeping those tracks clean is also important as Topgun2 mentioned. It's one of my least favorite maintenance jobs! Still trying to figure out an effective way to do it. With all of the above procedures employed, I have never had a mold issue. As for getting the mold out, maybe a distilled white vinegar/water solution as an alternative to bleach? Hopefully someone will have a solid idea. Good luck, Dave .picasa.ini

  13. Oliver Travel Trailers is excited to have our new dealer partners onboard to work with our Oliver owners as we strive to improve your Oliver Experience. We will be working directly with our dealers so that you receive the same quality service closer to home. Our customer support team will still be available to assist with any questions and work with you and our dealer partners to get any services you need resolved. As our service team will be working with the dealer's service departments on location, we feel it is prudent to discontinue most service work here at our location in Tennessee. However, we will continue doing major repairs, including fiberglass and aluminum, at our Plant Facility. At this time we plan to phase out the service department no later than the end of July and we are no longer taking on new appointments. As you continue reaching out to us with your questions and service needs, rest assured that we will help answer them and coordinate you with a dealership partner nearest to you. Whether on the road or at home, we are working to ensure owners receive the same excellent customer service you have come to trust here at Oliver Travel Trailers. If you have any questions or require further information regarding this update, please do not hesitate to contact us or call us at 1-888-526-3978. We are always here to assist you. Warm regards, Oliver Travel Trailers Team ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Of course, my team is still here to help support you as we always have with any technical and service questions as well as facilitating services for your Oliver. 15. Agreed. We actually exhausted our nearly 6 year old agms with 2 days of dry camping and to get the front jack lifted I had to plug in the 7 pin cable. That did the trick and was easier than dragging out the generator. It certainly offsets the refrigerator drain on DC setting while traveling between sites. Very glad we have the 3-way fridge to operate on propane while Dry camping. Also glad we have a separate inverter and not the new inverter/charger in which everything has to be run through the inverter. Ours is a 2018 model.

  16. Well, we pivoted last month and changed plans to see the eclipse from a private cattle ranch near Purmela, TX instead of Lady Bird Johnson Park... Kathy and Ronnie, owners of BellaRose Cattle Ranch, opened up their property for a "fiberglass RV/white egg" Eclipse Rally. The rally is a "no-fee" event, but proceeds from sale of food, tips for musicians/bands, and various presentations help local not-for-profit organizations. Very cool. Expecting over 120 participants by Monday morning's eclipse, K & R have planned out a myriad of activities - country western artists perform, civil war presentations, yoga, various food offerings, guided tours of local area, etc. So far, most of the rigs are Casitas - but we're close to at least 8 OTTs and more are showing up by the hour. "Casablanca" arrived yesterday PM in a position adjacent to ScubaRX's "Outlaw" rig: D showing off a baby blanket she made for our 3.5 month-old grandson, Cade Bailey Webb: Very windy and overcast today - hopefully the winds subside and skies clear for Monday's viewing of the total eclipse... Stay tuned, more later! Cheers, ALL!

  17. Which reminds me of a "trick" I learned a number of years ago for a fridge in storage. After all contents of the fridge are removed and the fridge cleaned and dried, place some crumpled newspaper in both the fridge and freezer - it only takes 6 or 7 sheets. AS Patriot says - leave the fridge door cracked. When its time to get the Ollie out of storage, simply remove the newspaper, turn on the fridge and stock it. There will not be that funky fridge smell at all. Bill

  18. @John Welte To answer your original question on the best portable electric dehumidifier. I am sure there are other options out there, but this is what we use and it has worked great for the last few years. We also really like how quickly our Truma in dehumidify mode works. We also keep our frig door slightly cracked open during storage while running the dehumidifier. Naturally mold and mildew usually will not thrive with moving air. https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Breeze-Electric-Dehumidifier-Portable/dp/B01HXVUT7C/ref=pd_bxgy_d_sccl_1/142-3394087-9918246?pd_rd_w=FhzcQ&content-id=amzn1.sym.2b132e63-5dcd-4ba1-be9f-9e044543d59f&pf_rd_p=2b132e63-5dcd-4ba1-be9f-9e044543d59f&pf_rd_r=S2BGQD30T201BAZKD05G&pd_rd_wg=P44kG&pd_rd_r=624683bb-794c-4efb-b5ee-829214442647&pd_rd_i=B01HXVUT7C&psc=1

  19. Pool noodles - simply use a razor blade to slit the noodle length wise and then shove it onto the edges of the solar panels. This will protect the cover. I have this exact situation and get around it with the use of a small external solar panel to charge the 4 AGM's that I keep onboard while my Oliver is in storage. Bill

  20. Thought some of you might get a kick out of my recent and current TV projects! I recently install and Edge Juice with Attitude kit which adds a performance chip replacing the ECM for fuel metering providing extra towing power and better GPM: Juice With Attitude (edgeproducts.com) We actually went from 12 GPM to 17 GPM, pulling the Oliver, on two recent trips in the mountains. Not at all a scientific test, since the first trip likely had more elevation ups and downs, but it is for sure much improved. Driving uphill in the mountains is now much stronger too. There are also gauges for fuel pressure, trans temp and EGT (exhaust gas temperature) for diesel engine safety when adding more power. This was a complex installation, with a dozen under the hood connections. I was very happy when the truck started up immediately after. The picture shows where I installed the Attitude display under the dash. They supply a hokey windshield mount, but I didn't want my view obstructed at all. It works nicely there. Notice above the fuel pedal, you can see where it connects to the OBD-II port for reading ECM and sensor data.

  21. I *LIKE* this idea 🙂 Join the Oliver community, meet folks, look at trailers, witness first-hand the depth, breadth and creativity of Oliver owners. Hand out business cards/brochures. Maybe even make a group presentation about the capabilities and culture of their own dealerships.

  22. I think they are making an unfortunate decision, unless they are giving up camping/traveling all together. My experience is that most bugs get worked out during the warranty period and shortly after. We’ve had years of trouble free camping, just normal routine maintenance (bearings, brakes, shocks, etc). Someone will benefit from their sale, an Oliver well broken-in and bugs worked out! Mike

  24. Obviously it doesn't change the quality, though it does change the perceived value of an Oliver, for some. I bought an older E2 and these changes don't affect me at all, but it does affect a couple I know who purchased a new E2 and the ability to return to Hohenwald each year for service or warranty work was a major factor in their decision. They've already told me that they will be selling their E2 at the end of the warranty period if this service goes away. They've been down the dealer/service route with other trailer brands before and have no desire to do so again. I hope Oliver understands how important this is to some owners and continues to offer service at Hohenwald.

  25. Looks like a fun job! I had some concerns with my 2013 Duramax as it had the CP4 pump in it. After reading a lot of CP4 horror stories, I installed a FASS lift pump under the driver's side bed. Not sure how much it really helps but, it supposedly filters out a lot more particulates than the stock filter, has a water separator, along with the positive pressure to feed the system. Knowing my luck, I also went ahead and purchased a Fleece CP3 pump/installation kit. Got that installed a couple of months ago to prepare for this camping season since we have some longer trips planned starting with the Rally in Alabama. The lift pump was far easier to install than the CP3 for sure although the CP3 wasn't the worst job I've done. It's mainly a lot of tear down to get to the pump and put the new one in. Fired right up afterwards so I was happy with that! It doesn't always rule out issues down the road but it sure gives you some additional peace of mind!

  27. @John Dorrer John, we used a cover prior to our Ollie Hangar and pool noodles really worked well on the sharp 90 degree solar panel and rear bumper corners. I found that using a little gaffers tape to secure the pool noodles really helped keep the noodle in place. The gaffers tape is similar to duct tape but will not leave a glue residue when you remove it. here - https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Premium-Grade-Gaffer-Power/dp/B00LMNYFHI/ref=sr_1_6?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.kVU2X4gKhAp6LTbtD0ttAYQB5ypdxczKUApEmnFt6fD5VBRqjwKwhy30PsFfnY3tcTYrM11BcDq3_tHS3JMVU0Y0RpgcHlthTbBqwkbZ52MSkiuhghrQ136AWEalaXMrLHqS5eAJFNc18IFrwDY39tAXU9ybQPGDBl6gBtuMq6PbzvatViHzFxYmxu-G9GfRH5hQlQjaT_hWOFZXUuKO0uCFgCZ7I8luHGGFBTPixWVrIxVg60NB0_uKiUtWtbYg11HMHbwCY9XoNWvjYMI9_1OWstopxowoxhg30ZgTsOc.Jql5lqpSwwFO6oKrJgeMn0-MCkddi8Kyt96QgcAVnSI&dib_tag=se&hvadid=634419446280&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=9009957&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=1250299019061540131&hvtargid=kwd-10053117&hydadcr=6394_13298173&keywords=gaffer+tape&qid=1712369909&s=industrial&sr=1-6

Austin has Whole Foods, some nice items but yes, EXPENSIVE. Phoenix has a specialty store, part of Bashas (volume cra@p) named AJ's. Come to Phoenix on your winter travels, go to AJ's for sure. We head to the valley and beyond every winter. When we stop at AJ's we have amazing meats to grill and deserts (amazing bakery) to last for the week!

  29. We turn the water pump off after each use. Just a habit we developed over time. With 2 switches, we are never too far away from one. And under the subject of TMI, we don’t flush yellow at night, we accumulate and flush in the morning. We also turn off the city water supply when we leave the campground. Mossey

  30. @John Welte, The humidity content is horrendous here in the winter we had so many days this year with greater than 90% humidity. We have a 3 sided metal RV port with tarps for the doors, so direct rain/snow is not on the Oli. We also can keep the Oli plugged in full time. The outside of the Oli itself during the winter along with the cement floor and the inside walls of the port would get dripping wet with moisture from the humidity. The first couple of years I opened the bathroom vent, and then turn the Maxair fan on it's lowest setting and l had the blinds completely open leaving the fan run all winter. I learned from winter camping out here if we did have constant air flow the insides of the trailer would be wet. This last year, I was so busy working on the inside of the trailer, that I left a little electric heater set to around 55 degrees in the Oli and lock the Oli up tight, with all the vents closed. This year worked much better at lowering the humidity level in the trailer, although the electric bills were higher.

  32. According to the new brochure (linked) it shows the Truma Aventa in the photo on the OLEll at 9’ 8”. Our 2020 LEll has the 16” wheels. I believe in late 22 YM and 23, and 24 YM Oliver went to the smaller wheel/tire set up which would reduce overall height. I have never measured the exact height of XPLOR post our Truma install. Given the slight slope or drop where the new fiberglass foundation to accommodate the Truma retro fit was installed, I will go with what Oliver states as the overall height being 9’ 8”. This is also listed in the 24 YM info packet. here- https://olivertraveltrailers.com/travel-trailers/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwn7mwBhCiARIsAGoxjaIXJnMBHitUfd5XEnvEsEIi3T8dGClqwAk2LL7Bl9L5W_LKGy6ufhQaAvv5EALw_wcB

This list has nothing to do with whether you reserved a site through the park or made a reservation through Oliver. I hope that helps clarify what this list is and isn’t. I’ll add you when I get on my desktop computer.

Park host came by today to inform us that the wash was running and the road out and in from the park is closed until further notice. Some folks went for it and left. We took it as a sign and are waiting it out , comfy and cozy with plenty of food and water.🤓

  37. OK - It appears that there were a few "issues" but mainly it was a combination of storage and technical data base things that were the source. It now appears that all is back to normal thanks to the great work (again) by Jason W. Bill

  38. Battery replacement is not unique to Oliver travel trailers. Although it would be best if listed Oliver dealers were actually ready to service Olivers, dealer service (including service provided by Oliver in Hohenwald) is usually much more expensive than independent service. For "generic" RV issues, like batteries, it is not necessary to find dealer service. I would advise Paul Polk to find a Batteries Plus location in LA and ask them to replace his AGM batteries. Batteries Plus does installation.

  39. The change sucks, BUT… At this point the quality of the trailer hasn’t changed, so buying another brand just because of this doesn’t make sense. Basically you have to factor in mediocre warranty service support, but for serious stuff they are still there. The nuance is that even at a vested dealer, RV tech turnover is high and they are dealing with all brands. Lack of systems expertise and scheduling will be the major issues. So component issues are probably readily addressed, but resolution of any electrical or plumbing issues are going to be dependent on the guy on the floor. I’d love to see them do an Oliver Certification for all the small RV repair shops many of us have found. And every dealer and their service manager should be at the rally.

  40. When I met with Operations Manager Rodney Lomax on November 14, 2022 (while the few issues we found with our Hull #1291 after delivery were being promptly addressed by the Service Department), I told him: "Whatever you pay Jason Essary, it's not enough." One year+ later, my view has not changed.

  41. When we bought our 2008, there was no Oliver Setvice department. We took a fly, anyway, after literally looking at hundreds of trailers, dozens of brands, for our "last" trailet. It has grown to be the best of the best. Jason and crew aren't going anywhere, they're instead expanding the knowledge base to the hand-picked, quality, small dealers. And,expanding the radius, for now, so people can get quality service much closer to home than Hohenwald. Imo. That training takes time, and face to face. Support will always be there. Even during the hiatus, we always got support. This is not your average company. Heart is there.

  42. I started in photography back in the mid 60's when everything was manual. No auto exposure or focus. My first camera did not even have a light meter. Had to use a hand held one and set the camera's aperture and shutter speed from that. Manipulating either or both to create different effects. Bought 35mm film in 100 foot rolls and wound my own cartridges in total darkness. It was all black and white. I thought I was Ansel Adams. I even lugged a big 2-1/4 square camera and tripod to the top of Sentinel Dome in Yosemite to duplicate AA's picture of the old Jeffrey Pine growing there. Here's Ansel Adams original: Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, the tree had died during an extreme drought three summers before despite the rangers best efforts of hauling water to the top every day to try to save it. So all I have to show for my trek up the dome is a picture of a dead tree. Oh well, it was a famous tree.

  43. We bought Hull #1291 in November, 2022. Our first RV of any kind. I researched for two years, including looking at many trailers. I also spent much time on this forum, before settling on the Oliver Elite II. Along with overall build quality, the quality of help available via this forum was one positive factor resulting in our purchase. After our purchase, I have continued to learn lots of valuable info about repair and maintenance of our Oliver here. My wife and I remain pleased with our decision, and with the content available on this forum.

  47. That is correct. My list is just an informal collection of sites/names so that I know who's who while I wander the campground. I did this last year for myself as a first time attendee, and several others wanted copies. So I'm collecting them again this year, from here on this forum and the two Facebook groups. I know that not everyone wants to participate. This is in no way an official list of attendees, not is Oliver involved in me collecting this information.
